A sci-fi icon returns in a landmark Dan Barry collection
We’re up to the seventh volume of this classic collection from Mad Cave Studios. Check out Flash Gordon Classic Collection Vol. 7.
Flash Gordon’s legacy continues with the FLASH GORDON COLLECTION VOL. 7, the latest hardcover release from Mad Cave Studios in partnership with King Features, marking a pivotal stretch of the iconic Sunday strip under the stewardship of legendary cartoonist Dan Barry.A must-have for Flash Gordon fans, collectors, and readers interested in the foundations of science fiction storytelling in comics, this Classic Collection highlights Barry at his most confident and expansive, pushing the series into strange new worlds while grounding it in the enduring heroism that defines Flash Gordon.

Strap yourself in for another rip-roaring romp through the many worlds of Flash Gordon. From the icy cold surface of Pluto, to the Death Planet, to a dimension populated by living machines... These are the continuing adventures of Flash Gordon, science fiction’s most enduring and heroic icon.
The Death Planet reprints the first four years of Dan Barry’s Flash Gordon Sunday strips from July 30, 1967, to July 18, 1971, starting with Mac Raboy’s last strip, Captured on Pluto, which Dan completed. This volume also includes an interview with Dan Barry’s long-time art assistant Bob Fujitani and a feature on Dan Barry and Harry Harrison written by comic strip expert Rick Norwood.
Sarah Brunstad spoke of this exciting new collection from Mad Cave:
"Dan Barry revolutionized the Flash Gordon strip, exploring new science fiction concepts that thrilled readers of the 60s. This beautiful hardcover celebrates his legacy and gives some amazing behind-the-scenes details about the man behind the pen."
Dan Barry (1923-1997) built a career that spanned decades and defined multiple eras of comic strip storytelling. Beginning in the early 1940s, Barry worked across major publishers, including Timely and Fawcett, before moving into newspaper strips, where he assisted on Tarzan and later took over the feature. In 1951, he stepped into Flash Gordon, ultimately shaping the character for nearly half a century. His tenure remains one of the most influential in the strip’s history, bridging classic adventure with evolving science fiction sensibilities.
Flash Gordon is one of the defining pillars of science fiction adventure, originating in 1934 and shaping the visual language of the genre across comics, film, and television. Carried forward by artists like Alex Raymond, Mac Raboy, and Dan Barry, the strip remains a lasting symbol of heroism and exploration—one that Flash Gordon Classic Collection Vol. 7 continues while offering a snapshot of a creator's craft.
This thrilling new collection arrives June 23, 2026 (FOC June 6), in hardcover (ISBN: 9781545827055 | $49.99). Preorder through your local comic shop, bookstore, or from Mad Cave directly.
Southern-fried Sword and sorcery gets its due…
Coming in July 2026, Mad Cave Studios is bringing Grit back to print.
Mad Cave Studios brings GRIT back to print, returning readers to the brutal, off-kilter world from Brian Wickman (The Greylock) and Kevin Castaniero (War of the Worlds: Thunder Child), with colors by Simon Gough (Zorro) and letters by three-time Ringo nominee Micah Myers.

From feral packs of bog-hounds to goblin gang wars, Old Man Barrow's solved plenty of problems with the swing of his axe...but when a routine troll hunt spirals into a brush with a would-be doomsday cult, he may be in more trouble than he can chop his way out of. Saddled with Ari, a sharp-tempered witch with little patience for his blood-soaked ways, Barrow is dragged into grotesque occult rituals, the jeering warbles of trash-talking songbirds, and a fight he can't win on his own…whether he admits it or not.
“Kevin and I have always felt right at home in the gnarly, bloody world of Grit, and we’re thrilled to be working with Mad Cave,” said Brian Wickman.
Kevin Castaniero added, “Grit is one of those books that, for me, was this perfect storm of violence and humour. Getting to draw Barrow hacking away at goblins in one instance, and then Barrow getting down on the ground to investigate something… less heroic, was a blast. I hope you all have as much fun reading this book as I did drawing it.”
For readers who like their fantasy mean, weird, and a little unhinged, Grit sits alongside Head Lopper and Orc Stain, balancing brutality and dark humor without sanding down either edge. Originally released by Scout Comics in 2020, the series returns here in a new edition.
Grit goes on sale July 21, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545827369 | $17.99), and is now available for preorder from local comic shops, bookstores, and from Mad Cave directly. Final Order Cut-off is June 29.
Where campaigns end, everything else begins.
From Maverick is a new collection, with a definitive edition of The Last Session out in July 2026.
Selected as one of YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels for Teens and a New York Public Library Best Book for Teens, Mad Cave Studios’ Maverick imprint brings THE LAST SESSION: THE COMPLETE CAMPAIGN, collecting both volumes of the celebrated YA graphic novel series!Written by California-based writer Jasmine Walls (Vixen NYC), with art and a brand-new cover by Dozerdraws (Lumberjanes) and lettering by award-winning letterer Micah Myers, The Last Session: The Complete Campaign brings both volumes together in a single, cohesive edition. The series uses the framework of a tabletop campaign to explore identity, distance, and the ways friendships evolve.
It all kicks off with book one, where we meet Jay, Lana, Drew, Walter, and Shen. This tight-knit group of friends began playing Dice & Deathtraps in high school. Now dealing with college and all the twists and turns of their lives, their weekly game has been a wonderful constant. But, as college graduation looms and it feels like their lives are all moving down very different paths, Lana’s thrilled to finally complete the party’s unfinished original campaign. But when Jay’s partner Cassandra joins the game, Lana refuses to let her inexperience ruin the best part of her week! But in the end, that may be Lana and the party’s undoing
Then in book two, a new party is formed! Erika, Jacob, Marcelle and Damien have become popular online personas, each with a huge following on their corner of the internet. The only thing they have in common is that they used to be close friends until they drifted apart in high school, leaving their Dice & Deathtraps game unfinished. Now, four years later, their old game master Amina has reached out with a chance to reunite, save the community center that fostered their creativity, and finally finish their abandoned campaign. They have one night to do it, streaming to a live audience with tensions and old grudges on the rise. Can they mend their fraying friendship or will this last session cut their ties for good?
If Critical Role and The Adventure Zone are your speed, then The Last Session offers a character-driven story about friendship, change, and the spaces—real and imagined—that will bring people together.
