In The Beginning
I’ve had a bit of a break recently, with a few days up in Scotland visiting my wife’s family. It was a long drive, but we had no problems. I got to see the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies up close. They are all imposing!
I have and had a lot of reading - including comics in print and digital. On top of that, I still have a pile of books to read, including Illuminations by Alan Moore and I Am The Law by Michael Molcher. I will get there in the end!
Comic News
There is more horror to come from Archie Comics with a new one-shot comic. Jinx: A Cursed Life is coming soon.
Ablaze Publishing has announced some new manga coming later this year. There are four new titles from Osamu Tezuka.
The Treasury Of British Comics has released details on a new classic collection - The Best of Jane Bond is coming soon.
Round-Up
I thought I would give Superman #1 a try this last week. I’m not usually a massive Superman fan. Oh, I’ll tolerate him in doses when he is in team or event books, plus when he features as a guest star in others (mainly the Bat books), but I haven’t picked up a Superman Comic for some time. The only ‘pure’ Superman book I have - which I really enjoy - is All-Star Superman, and this book felt like this!
With Lex in jail, we get a new twist, and I like the way this looks to be heading - something unique for Superman and some things he hasn’t come up against.
I will be carrying on!
Crowdfunding
The excellent We Are Scarlet Twilight is now funding on Zoop.
Received
Some classic 80’s action for Knight Rider and Street Hawk fans in Vyper: Crimson Dawn. Keep up with creator Dan on his website.
Mad Robot Comics and Madius have teamed up to bring us a War Of The Worlds spinoff. Thunder Child is the beginning of a three-part story and is an excellent read. From Shortbox is the excellent Cuckoo - a great story with some sci-fi elements. This goes to incredible places.
The second issue of Balor gives us some answers and adds well to the story. I like the twists, and the enemy seems to be well-established too. Follow Balor Comics on Twitter.
Raven God by Maddie Salvage is an excellent story and gives a different view of the Viking warrior.
I got myself three issues of System Error from Blue Fox Comics. I needed to catch up on the series, and I’m glad I did!
And no, I haven’t received Tales From The Quarantine yet. Read my latest missive on this here:

From Kevin Maher is a fun read called Toxic Man with some great humour and use of tropes!
We go across the Grimm Universe with two new titles from Zenescope Entertainment.
We get a double helping from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the Armageddon Game continuing - along with more - from IDW Publishing.
And we’ve got the latest two issues of 2000 AD from Rebellion.
