Coming this week from Literati Press Comics is Aliengaged #1.
Aliengaged is an action/comedy that opens on the first day of an alien invasion as the eyes of millions turn toward the sky in terror, while a young, scatter-brained nobody named Garrett is oblivious to the descending threat. With his head down and focused on what he hopes to be a life changing event, Garrett decides this is the day he’ll propose to his girlfriend Claire.
Written by Greg White and Colin Ingersol and illustrated by Greg White.
Sometimes, when you are all loved-up, you may be oblivious to other things going on. And that is what kicks off this first issue of Aliengaged.
Garrett feels that love is in the air. He will propose to his girlfriend, and nothing will put a damper on his day. Even if that means there is an alien invasion going on!
What follows is a funny series of events as Garrett makes his way to his girlfriend. He has his ring and can’t wait to propose; nothing will get in his way. I like seeing the reactions of those around him. As the chaos of the invasion continues, Garrett is blissfully unaware of what is happening to those in the world.
Garrett even gets a chance to see the invasion on TV, brushing it off as a fictional show and not seeing the results of the invasion.
I like the way the aliens are set out. They are not just a force of nature; they seem to have a plan, and the way they take over is fun to watch. Their methods bode well as entertainment in future issues.
The art is good fun, with some excellent cartoon moments and more creepy aspects with the aliens. I enjoy the colours, and the lettering works out well.
This was a fun read and started an interesting concept and a fun-looking story.
Aliengaged #1 will be available at comic shops everywhere on September 21, direct from literatipressok.com, and digitally through GlobalComix and Comixology/Kindle.
