Advance Review: Etheres

This week from Source Point Press is Etheres, and I had a chance for an advanced read.
Following her passing, Valerie finds herself navigating a mysterious world known as Etheres– a realm where souls go when they don’t belong anywhere else. Valerie is accompanied by The Creature, a foreboding and taunting figure who guides her through this unknown realm. Valerie’s journey unfolds through poetic narration as she experiences her surroundings, recalling her past life, her trauma, and why she believes she deserves to be there.

There are very few comics that I have read that I could describe as poetry in sequential art, but Etheres surely is. That is by no means a slight on any of the others I have read and reviewed, but this is a one-sky comic that, in narration and art, had a wonderful flow to it all.
We feel what came before as we follow Valerie through this world's afterlife.
Cleverly, we are guided through this world by narrating Valerie's thoughts, hopes and regrets. We also follow the art in darkness, light and fire. This journey takes us through various emotions, with some clever plays on the words and the art.
This is a special read, and the length of the story is perfect, with some amazing pacing. The words and art flow well within the story, and you feel connected with Valerie as she finds herself in many interesting situations.
This is a beautiful read, with some clever storytelling, amazing art and a finish that makes you sit and think - well worth getting!
