From Band Of Bards is a new science fiction series - Jacin and The Olympians - mixing Greek myth with Science Fiction. Here are my advance thoughts.
JACIN AND THE OLYMPIANS is an all audiences, woman-led sci-fi action adventure mixing Giant Mechs with space opera epic storytelling. With a fast paced manga influence this oversized comic will leave readers satisfied, yet hungering for more. For lovers of Star Wars, Power Rangers, Evangelion, Voltron, and Nickelodeon's 'Avatar: The Legend of Korra.'
Zeus and his Pantheon have been wiped out by the Titans of Myth! Jacin Mukai and her genetically-engineered demigoddess friends use divine technology to protect the remnants of humanity aboard the Starship Olympia as they quest to find the legendary Colossi. Humanity's last hope is Jacin and the Olympians! All audiences, woman-led sci-fi action adventure double issue that mixes Giant Mechs in a space opera epic with fast paced manga influenced comics.

Diving into this new story, I immediately got a feel of the classic TV series Ulysses 31. This is an excellent thing, as I really enjoyed that series and feel that this had a touch of that and Battlestar Galactica.
From the off, we get the end - of Earth and the reason why, years later, we find ourselves in space, chased relentlessly by the Titans. The gods are gone, and now it’s time for humanity to fight back.
The build to this is well played out, although a little disjointed. I feel that things move a little too fast in this issue, but we get the gist and the real setup for the continuing adventures.
We get a look mostly into Jacin, what drives her and what she is good at. Her brains make her the best in this, and she does much of the proverbial heavy lifting. Hopefully, later issues will build on the characters of the Olympians, as I can see some interesting scope there.
This was a good introduction (or pilot) issues with plenty of action to keep you interested and hints towards what we can see in the future. I enjoyed it and it took me back to my youth!
