Launching soon on Kickstarter is a new comic from Pat O'Malley, Andy Reynolds with Ari DeCandido and Ariel Lacci on art and colours - The Jurassic Parkour 4.
Four parkouring, crime-fighting anthropomorphic dinosaurs in an action-packed adventure to reclaim their hero status in Primal City.
How to begin with this? Yes, it is as crazy as it sounds. There are four dinosaurs, and they are into parkour. They are a superhero team who have fallen on hard times, and this story shows their attempts (with the help of others) to climb out of it.
This is an entertaining story, though, and it kept me hooked through its ups and downs. There are some entertaining side jokes and asides as we work our way through, and some elements of mystery and peril too.
The mystery is interesting, and I hope we get to see more of that in future issues, but in this case, there is just enough to get going and see us through to the nice (cliffhanger1) ending.
The peril is there too, and it works nicely with the beginning of the story where things go wrong for Jurassic Parkour 4 - it’s a nice hook and sets up the problems and come-backs for the rest of the issue.
We do get a bit of an origin of the four, although that is only hinted at, and also something I would like to see built on in the future.
The artwork is manic and cartoony, with some excellent expressions, and the style of it reminds me of my Saturday morning cartoon series - perfect for this, with some excellent action shown.
This looks to be a fun read and something worthy of backing on Kickstarter.
