Out in Feb 2027, in print and digital from Manga Mavericks, is Brothers Of Japan, with print pre-orders live now.
Manga Mavericks Books, a manga publisher serving the North American market from Manga Mavericks LLC, announced a newly licensed title during its online licensing event Manga Mavericks Monday.

An essential collection from manga maestro Taiyo Matsumoto, the acclaimed creator of Ping Pong and Tekkonkinkreet!
Created back when Taiyo Matsumoto was in his 20’s, this never-before-released collection contains 11 stories that embody the foundational cornerstones of Taiyo Matsumoto’s artistic universe.
The titular short story centers on two brothers who dig a hole in their dreams to reach the other side of the world.
Whether this is your first foray into Matsumoto’s body of work or you are a veteran manga lover, Brothers of Japan is crucial reading, demonstrating the simplicity and rawness of manga as a storytelling art form.
BROTHERS OF JAPAN was originally published in Japan by MAGAZINE HOUSE in 1995, and an updated edition of the manga was later published in 2010. The English release by Manga Mavericks Books will be based on the updated 2010 edition.
Manga Mavericks Books will be releasing the manga as a paperback book at A5 (5.83” x 8.27”) size.
BROTHERS OF JAPAN creator Taiyo Matsumoto has received worldwide critical acclaim for his work, having won multiple Eisner Awards and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Some of his notable manga have included PING PONG, SUNNY, and TEKKONKINKREET.
Taiyo Matsumoto provided the following message to share with English readers:
“I’m very happy that English speakers will now be able to read Brothers of Japan.
As I drew this when I was in my 20s, it contains a lot of my own immaturity, which is embarrassing. But at the same time, it also contains soft and painful expressions that only young people can draw, and I’m fond of it.
I hope you all enjoy it as well.

The Full Scoop Lands in One Definitive Edition
Maverick has announced four young adult mystery volumes, releasing July 28, 2026, in The Full Scoop Collection.
This summer, Mad Cave Studios brings THE FULL SCOOP COLLECTION to the Maverick line, collecting all four volumes of Scoop in one definitive edition.
Written by award-winning writer Richard Ashley Hamilton (How to Train Your Dragon: Race to the Edge, Tales of Arcadia), with art by Pablo Andrés (Starfall), colors by Simon Robins and Rebecca Good, and letters by Dave Lanphear and Justin Birch, this 400+ page YA graphic novel follows Sophie’s search for the truth, grounded by artwork that keeps the series’ stranger turns in focus.
Sophie Cooper is the newest intern at the WMIA 7 news station--a struggling station based in Miami, Florida--and she's determined to use access to the newsroom's resources to prove her father has been framed for embezzlement. But investigating her father's case soon uncovers some unsettling things about her hometown, like a flying saucer crashed in the Everglades, a chupacabra running wild, a digital doppelgänger intent on ruining what's left of Sophie's social life, and a bunker, hidden since the 1960s, that seems to be at odds with time itself... Sophie will have to rely on all her truth-seeking skills to solve these mysteries!
For Richard Ashley Hamilton, Scoop has always been personal:
“While I’m incredibly thankful for the recent success we’ve had with Leo Da Vinci: Renaissance Kid, my publishing relationship with Mad Cave actually began with Scoop—which is fitting, since Sophie Cooper and her sci-fi mysteries are tied to my own beginnings. From my days as a CNN intern covering the infamous Versace murder to now being the dad of two teens starting their own internships, I feel like I’ve grown and changed alongside these characters, who are now influencing my life. Scoop represents everything I hold dear: Family, facing the unknown, an unending search for the truth, and, of course, Hall & Oates! So it’s deeply meaningful to know readers can experience every Scoop story in a single collected edition, all wrapped in a stunning new cover by my other favorite duo, Pablo Andrés and Simon Robins—talk about good news!"
The Full Scoop Collection runs on the friction between investigative journalism and the unexplained, where every answer reveals something more unstable—and far more dangerous—to follow!
The complete series arrives in one expansive paperback edition (ISBN: 9781545827307 | $29.99) on July 28, 2026. Preorder today at your local comic shop, bookstore, or from https://maverickgraphicnovels.com/.
The Mad Genius Reconsidered: A Sharp, Unexpected Look at Nikola Tesla
From Mad Cave Studios is a new graphic novel featuring inventor Nikola Tesla.
Tesla has become cultural shorthand for genius… but the shortest version rarely tells the whole story. Mad Cave Studios’
This summer,Comixology Originals line presents NIKOLA TESLA, a witty and unexpectedly human graphic novel from writer Sergio Rossi, artist Giovanni Scarduelli, letterer Giulia Gabrielli, and translator Lucy Lenzi that looks past the mythology surrounding one of history’s most iconic inventors.
Framed through the conversations of two collaborators attempting to make sense of Tesla’s life, the book blends fictionalized biography with cultural reflection, examining innovation, ambition, authorship, and the narratives history leaves behind.

Who was Nikola Tesla? A brilliant inventor or a visionary uncoupled from his time? In this fictionalized exploration of his life, two filmmakers set out to settle the debate. Growing up in poverty in the mid-19th century under the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Tesla studied and became an engineer on his own strength. He emigrated to America, where he was employed in the laboratory of the famous Thomas Edison, the inventor of the phonograph and the light bulb. But corruption and competition among Tesla's colleagues--chief among them Edison himself--led to the "War of Currents," a heated race for control of the world electricity market. Tesla came out on top of that race, but a strange and tragic confluence of events and prejudices led to his public downfall. With more than two hundred different patents and inventions over his lifetime, including the remote control and fluorescent lighting, Tesla is remembered today as one of the most important innovators in modern history. Sergio Rossi and Giovanni Scarduelli's funny, heartfelt retelling speaks not only to the inventor's legacy, but to our relationship with technology and the very concept of "genius."
Rossi, whose background spans physics, science communication, publishing, and comics history, brings both technical insight and narrative nuance to the story, while Scarduelli—known for his visually rich biographical work—renders a dynamic portrait of a figure whose life was as volatile as the inventions that helped reshape the modern world.
Part of Mad Cave’s growing slate of English-language releases in collaboration with Italian publisher Becco Giallo, Nikola Tesla moves beyond traditional biography, blending historical portraiture with cultural interrogation in a smart, emotionally grounded examination of invention, ambition, and the uneasy mythology of genius.
Nikola Tesla goes on sale August 11, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545827659 | $19.99) format. Preorder from your favorite LCS, book shop, or from Mad Cave directly.
