For me, ComiXology was always a big deal. It was what got me into digital comics. There were no comic shops near me and being able to get titles digitally brought me closer with more comics - Atomic Robo, Invincible and more!
With that said, there is the sad news of cuts being made at Amazon, ComiXology’s parent company. These cuts include many of those who work on ComiXology.
How many this will be seems to be a little vague at the moment. There is also the question on how this will affect the app and peoples collections. Amazon’s approach since taking over has seemed ‘difficult’ to say the least, with issues with the app, Kindle integration and buying comics using apps.
Will people start moving away from Amazon/ComiXology? The ‘big two’ have their own Unlimited/Infinite apps, while smaller publishers may start looking at the likes of GlobalComix to distribute.
I will revisit this when the dust has settled some more, but I would be interested in hearing what you think you can either:
