Hot on the heels of my last post, Zoop has another new crowdfunding project starting - Impostor Syndicate.
“Matt D. Wilson (finally!) presents: Impostor Syndicate #1&2”
A comic 20 years in the making, finally launches today on Zoop!
Now live on Zoop is a new campaign to fund the first two issues of Impostor Syndicate, the new comic from writer Matt D. Wilson, best known as one of the hosts of the super popular War Rocket Ajax podcast. His collaborator on the project is Chilean artist, Rodrigo Vargas. This is the superhero comic story Matt hasn't been able to get out of his head for 20 years, and the only one he's ever wanted to tell.
It’s about a down-on-his luck actor. An impossible-to-pass-up opportunity. In a world where superheroes and supervillains are real and also the biggest business in the world — we're talking movies, TV shows, toys, video games, even Broadway — shadowy employers have ample reason to keep them fighting no matter what.
So what happens when a supervillain dies on the job, or just gets too old for this $#!+ and retires? Well, somebody's gotta step up and put on the mask. And actors have to work, don't they? Especially if they're slumming around doing kids birthday parties, and there are enough zeroes in the check.
Wilson says "This is the comic book I've been trying to make for half my life, so I think it's an idea that really has legs. It's a pretty unique take on the superhero genre. And if that doesn't convince you to check it out, I'd hope Rodrigo Vargas' incredible art does. It's worth that alone."
Zoop CEO, Jordan Plosky shares: “We’ve had a great relationship with War Rocket Ajax since we launched. When Matt reached out about funding his comic, it was a no brainer for us. We’re big fans of the show, big fans of Matt, and we think everyone is really going to be big fans of this book and it’s premise.”
Zoop is the new home for creator-owned crowdfunding. For publishers and creators, Zoop is an all-in-one pre-order, production, fulfillment, and marketing solution that connects them directly to their fans.
