A Nuclear Farce About Atomic Warfare
Mad Cave Studios has announced an upcoming new mini-series, Don’t Forget Your Briefcase! It looks to be an entertaining dark, comedic political thriller!
This case is going to blow!
Mad Cave Studios is proud to announce
DON’T FORGET YOUR BRIEFCASE, a five-issue political farce by best-selling author Eliot Rahal (Knock Em Dead, Midnight Vista) and acclaimed artist Phillip Sevy (Tomb Raider, X-Men Unlimited). Joined by colorist Warnia K. Sahadewa and letterer Frank Cvetkovic, this team is set to deliver a thrilling, darkly comedic take on nuclear warfare and the chaos of global power structures.

Everywhere the President goes, there is a military liaison who follows, carrying a briefcase with the codes to launch a nuclear strike—and it’s just been lost. This is the story about what happens when a ten-year-old boy finds a nuclear football and accidentally brings the world to the brink of annihilation.
“This is the kind of storytelling I want to do. I want to make it special. And I want to work with people I love,” said Eliot Rahal. “And I love Phil. Mad Cave is allowing us to do something off-beat and specific. I couldn't be more excited!”
Phillip Sevy added: “Eliot is one of my favorite humans alive and one of the most talented writers in comics. When he asks you if you'd be interested in drawing a dark humor thriller about how we feel the need to walk around with the keys to our own destruction at all times, just in case we need to end the world, out of hubris and stupidity, you say ‘Yes!’ and count yourself among the luckiest people in comics.”
Fans of Chew, Something is Killing the Children, and Danger Street will find themselves right at home in this wild, maximalist ride through political satire and farcical misadventure. Packed with satire, action, and laugh-out-loud moments,
Don’t Forget Your Briefcase is a story of control, destruction, and what happens when power falls into the wrong hands—literally.
Don’t Forget Your Briefcase #1 launches on June 25th, with Cover A by Phillip Sevy and Cover B by Marguerite Sauvage. Preorder now at your local comic shop or online.

News from TOKYOPOP today as the publisher has announced that it has licensed the Spanish edition of the acclaimed manhua series, HEAVEN OFFICIAL’S BLESSING, by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu and illustrated by STARember.
The series is the manhua edition of the bestselling “Danmei” (Chinese language Boys' Love) novel and has captivated readers globally with a memorable mix of fantasy and romance accented with adventure and royal intrigue. The Spanish language debut of Vol. 1 is scheduled for Fall release.
Eight hundred years ago, Crown Prince Xie Lian was considered the darling of the heavens and had limitless potential. At just seventeen years old, he ascended to godhood in the heavens and had many followers who worshiped him. Unfortunately, because of his heroic determination to meddle in the affairs of the mortal world to save his old kingdom, Xie Lian is banished from the Heavenly Realm. After suffering tragedy after tragedy, he even garners a reputation as the "God of Misfortune."
Eight hundred years after his initial ascension, Xie Lian rises once again to godhood, but now he has no followers or temples in his name, and he spends his days collecting scraps. One day, while returning from picking up trash, Xie Lian finds a mysterious young man named San Lang and takes him home. This young man, however, turns out to be Hua Cheng, the infamously terrifying but very charming Ghost King known throughout all three kingdoms. As their paths continue to cross, pure-hearted Xie Lian and the fearsome Ghost King become closer. Unbeknownst to Xie Lian, the mysterious Hua Cheng has been waiting for him for a very, very long time.
“The growth of Chinese manhua continues globally and also coincides with an expanding market in North America and beyond for content published in non-English languages such as Spanish,” says Lena Atanassova, TOKYOPOP Editor-in-Chief. “HEAVEN OFFICIAL’S BLESSING is a unique and noteworthy addition to our Spanish catalog and we are excited to support the continued evolution and localization of this stand-out series.”

Rebellion sign comic book collection deal for Denmark
Han er Loven! Rebellion is delighted to announce a deal with publisher E-voke to reprint collections from 2000 AD and Rebellion’s vast archive of comics in Danish.
The first volume published under this new arrangement will be Essential Judge Dredd: The Apocalypse War, the epic ‘Judge Dredd’ storyline from 2000 AD from 1981-2.
It will be the first time that Dredd has been published in Danish since the 1980s, when he appeared as “Dommeren” for thirteen issues published by Interpresse in 1984-5.
Written by John Wagner and Alan Grant, with art by ‘Judge Dredd’ co-creator Carlos Ezquerra, Brian Bolland, Mick McMahon, Ron Smith and Steve Dillon, ‘The Apocalypse War’ is considered one of the all-time greatest ‘Judge Dredd’ stories and this collection presents this classic story with bold new colouring for a modern audience.
E-voke will also reprint the Hugo Pratt War Picture Library from Rebellion’s The Treasury of British Comics imprint. The Italian artist/writer behind Corto Maltese, Pratt is one of the most beloved and well-known creative forces in European comics and E-voke jumped at the opportunity to translate and publish Rebellion’s collections of his War Picture Library stories from the 1960s.
The series reprinting these war-themed stories originally published by IPC will begin with Night of the Devil, and continue with Battler Britton and The Crimson Sea, the latter split into two volumes.
All of E-voke’s new editions will be published in hardback volume format.
Launched in 2018 and based in Ringsted, Denmark, E-voke publishes a wide variety of comics in Danish, representing a broad catalogue of titles and genres, such as The Phantom, Asterix, Jean-Michel Charlier & Mœbius’s Blueberry, Hugo Pratt’s Corto Maltese, and many more.
A spokesman for E-voke said: “It has been a pleasure doing business with 2000 AD and Rebellion – which now makes it possible for us to begin publishing such fine classic comics like ‘Judge Dredd’ and the fantastic artist Hugo Pratt and his collection of war stories.
“We have been met with a great assistance and enthusiasm from Rebellion’s rights manager Sam Birkett – and now we can publish these new Danish editions of the comics for the Danish readers and fans. We know they are so excited to finally read these stories here in Denmark!”
Sam Birkett, Rebellion's Rights Manager, said: “Lea and Lars from E-Voke’s unbridled passion for comics was evident within the first few minutes of meeting them earlier this year at the 52nd Festival de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême. Their catalogue speaks for itself, and I am delighted that they will be the first publisher to bring the “Dommeren” to the Danes in nearly forty years, along with the first Danish publication of some excellent war stories from maestro Hugo Pratt. Tusind tak!”
