Back it here:
I covered the first issue in October 2023, and issue #2 of The Chefs Of Death is now live on Kickstarter.
The second issue of this 1980's inspired sci-fi photo comic has now been produced, along with the anthology photo comic Hawk Issue 1982
The Chefs Of Death Issue 2 is a 52 page black and white photo comic, where after visiting Earth the alien Zarmdov appears to be missing, and so his distraught father will do anything and everything it takes to track him down, ably assisted by his sons Capidom and Frandor. Inevitably this takes us back to Earth, where journalist Audrey Pearce and newsreader John Holland are blackmailed by MI5 in to helping them stop these awful extraterrestrials.
I had an advanced look at Scourge of The Skull Digger #1, and now the initial issue is running on Kickstarter.
It's G.I.JOE meets Game of Thrones! The Skull Digger wrestles to regain his lost mojo while an ancient ominous threat looms.
The villains of Talon, the world's peacekeeping organization, take center stage as they begin to hatch carefully laid plans. Dominious Leader Ivan the Dominator has dispatched his trusted general Skull Digger to cover their tracks after losing the Battle of New Zalos.
Magnetic Press has announced some classic graphic novels in their latest Kickstarter.
Magnetic Press, the industry’s leading graphic novel publisher, is proud to announce the launch The George Bess Classic Horror Collection of classic OGNs, including the newest addition to the series, Victor Hugo's THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, Bram Stoker's DRACULA, and Mary Shelley's FRANKENSTEIN, now live on Kickstarter!
These three bold and seminal tales totaling at over 200 pages each, feature lush and unparalleled illustration of Georges Bess, known internationally for his extensive body of work with notorious writer and director Alejandro Jodorowsky, establishing himself as a premiere visionary and stylistic chameleon at the height of the European comics renaissance during the ’70s and ’80s. While his illustrative talent and fluidity couldn’t be denied, the direction he would take a project was often unpredictable, an improvisational instinct that set him apart among peers such as Jean “Moebius” Giraud, Philippe Druillet, Milo Minara, and Claire Wendling.
You may think you know Dracula, Frankenstein, and Quasimodo, but you have not truly met them until you have experienced these hauntingly beautiful interpretations from Magnetic Press!
Each 9x12” hardcover features deluxe foil-stamped design elements on the cover, along with Magnetic Press’s signature curved corners. Printed on uncoated woodfree paper, Bess’s intricately detailed line art is reproduced at a stunning archival level of quality. These ultimate graphic adaptations stand above the crowd as timeless masterpieces. A limited edition, complete Boxed Set is also available exclusively through this Kickstarter campaign.
The George Bess Classic Horror Collection premium volumes feature linen textured covers, metallic foil design elements, and Magnetic Press’s signature curved corners. Each volume recaptures the gothic romance and horror of the original novels in a way that belies all previous adaptations. Not only does Bess draw faithfully from the source material, but he imbues each with a degree of imagination that supplements the details Stoker, Shelley, and Hugo were themselves inspired by.
In addition to your pledge tier rewards, all backers will receive a number of Ambassador Points for their total value. The Ambassador Point Program is Magnetic Press’s way of thanking buyers for their patronage through exploring other titles in our collection at discounted prices. Retailer discounts are available to those verified with a business address or link, and tax ID/EIN.
The campaign for The George Bess Classic Horror Collection featuring Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, ends June 28th.Jim Starlin's Breed Omnibus
Jim Starlin's Breed Omnibus is now running on Zoop. Check out the details of this horror series below.
Not only has he worked on just about every major character for the Big 2, including writing the seminal Infinity Gauntlet, and Death In The Family for Marvel and DC respectively, but he’s also the creator of some of the most recognizable names in comics and movies today; Thanos, Drax, Nebula, Gamora, Shang-Chi, just to name a few. Today, the legendary creator Jim Starlin launches a 550+ page collection of one of his more personal creator owned characters, Breed exclusively on Zoop.
Breed is the story of Raymond Stoner, a down-on-his-luck ex-soldier who discovers his true heritage: he is the half-breed spawn a demon father and a human mother. Now Raymond must defend our world from demonic hordes, all while trying not to lose own humanity.
Collected by Monkey Wrench Press for the first time ever in a lengthy hardcover, the Breed Omnibus contains all three Breed series, plus a wealth of extras. Supporters of the crowdfunding campaign can get the book signed by Starlin, as well as other exclusive rewards.
Starlin says, “Looking back at Breed is a real pleasure. I think I did some of my best ink work on that initial Breed run. Having just recently reread the series, I’m still proud of the story. I’m so pleased that we can now offer his journey to a new generation of readers and give the old fans a fancy omnibus edition to put on the ol’ bookshelf.”
Chris Scioli states, "Breed is an incredible entry in the Jim Starlin collection, one we have wanted to bring to life since day one. The Zoop team has brought to bear the level of service and support we were looking for in a collaborative partnership. Monkey Wrench Press is proud to be partnering with Zoop to put the Breed Omnibus into the hands of Mr. Starlin's fans."
The campaign for Breed is live now and runs through early July.
The fifth issue of the fantastic science fiction series ARKS is now on Kickstarter.
The ground breaking science faction comic series from Rory Collins returns for the penultimate instalment in Arks Issue Five.
Announcing ARKS Issue Five from Clicky Sprout Wife, now live on Kickstarter, written by tenured film storyboard and concept artist Rory Collins (Children of Men, Bourne Ultimatum, Never Let Me Go) with art and colours by award-winning artist Andrew Morris. Arks is a groundbreaking biopunk comic 10 years in the making; where descendants don’t migrate from Earth in spacecrafts, but in bacteria!
Rory Collins, says, Arks - isn’t a comic it’s prophecy.
In the 5th century, Greek philosopher Anaxagoras believed that the universe was made up of an infinite number of seeds and that upon reaching the Earth, gave rise to life. He introduced the term ‘Panspermia' to the world.
Thousands of years later his philosophy has become the science of Directed Panspermia; the method of transporting microorganisms between habitable planets, to seed life between worlds.
Scientific theory and experiment affirm that it is our only means of extra solar travel.
No spaceships, no light speed, no cryo pods. Just bacteria and A.I in a probe the size of a pencil. Then a man and a woman at the edge of the universe with a single purpose; stay alive.
Arks and Arks Proximan are the first series of books that depict this incredible new frontier in science. It is a prophecy because it is a warning. A warning for a future that is decades, not centuries away. A prophecy that was untold. Until Now.
Lilith has found human remains...
Fearing she is a dead Ark booted by their bacteria, Hopi, Lilith's AI companion, reminds her that this is yet more proof that their exoplanet has failed the analog and is doomed to living failure. A state in which no life, not even bacteria, can survive.
Desperate to save the species, Lilith purges Hopi’s memory and goes in search of her husband Joseph who, blinded by acid rain has disappeared. To her horror she discovers that Joseph has already syntherised EC-13, a tiny pellet which if dissolved into the ocean will create a protein scourge that will sterilize all life on the planet.
To save humanity, Lilith has to learn the secrets of the dead woman under the house or kill Joseph.
We're trying to start a scientific revolution with a comic book. This is the fifth book into a story that is based on an obscure scientific theory called Directed Panspermia, the odds on favourite to take us extrasolar. There is almost nothing about it in our pop culture because the process it involves is absolutely terrifying!
We are now at the point in the story, where our ARKS, Lilith and Joseph, humans booted on a distant exo by bacteria, are beginning to realise that they have to make a choice - do they save their lives or their souls. Lilith is in a race against time to discover the cause of the oxygen poisoning before it destroys the species. Joseph is mercifully trying to euthanize the transplanted life before the planet becomes an oven.
