Fund Me Friday: Rotten Under The Snow
As featured last week, Rotten Under The Snow is now live on Kickstarter from Time Bomb Comics. I've had a chance to read the first 24 pages of this excellent looking new comic.
A city turned battlefield becomes stranger.
Bizarrely mutilated bodies are found in the muddy snow of Leningrad. To solve the mystery and stop an oncoming horror, a traumatised Soviet pilot with a terrible connection to what’s happening must cross enemy land- and fight what is rotting inside herself…Writer - Katie Cunningham
Artist - Mike Bogdanović
Colours - Danielle Weibe
Letters - Aaron Rackley
This starts out in a dark place. There are things that we don't understand, nor some of the characters. You are drawn in though - something is rotten in Leningrad.
The setting is unique. A time of war and there is something else going on here. I like the way this builds the story as in the background there is a battle going on.
Reading the first 24 pages of this new comic, I was completely drawn in, with a sigh when I got to the end of the preview I had been given.
There is the tension of not only the war, but something else lurking in the background. And as the story progresses, we learn a little more of the threat to us all. There are some interesting connections made, and I wonder how this will link to the larger story. The characters are certainly interesting, and that is not only the main characters but those on the peripheral of the story. Politics gets in the way here too. I did like the link to the famous Night Witches here, and that adds a new dimension to the story and the characters.
The artwork is dark and forbidding, it links in nicely to the theme of the story, with some perfect colours and letters to add to the tension.
This is a story I want to finish.
