Groupies aren’t chasing fame. They are running from something worse.
Groupies looks to be a fantastic read and has some stunning art. It’s coming in November 2024 from Mad Cave Studios.
Time to Rock and Roll All Nite… and murder every day…
Mad Cave Studios turns up the volume this fall with GROUPIES, the lurid, slasher-tinted horror graphic novel from celebrated filmmaker and writer Helen Mullane (Nicnevin and the Bloody Queen, Lifeforms) and Eisner-winning artist Tula Lotay (Somna, Barnstormers, Supreme: Blue Rose), with electrifying color from Dee Cunniffe (Crossover, Redneck) and sharp, era-perfect lettering from Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Tyler Smith.
Inspired by real-life interviews with teenage girls in 1970s fanzines, Groupies shatters the male gaze with a shifting point-of-view narrative that lets each girl tell her own story.

On a wild night out at the Fox Club, the coolest, hottest, and wildest girls on (or off) the Strip meet the edgiest up-and-coming band in town, and sparks fly. The Moon Show’s stardom is about to rise as they celebrate getting signed to the legendary Asmodeus Records. As the story unfolds, the excited groupies head on tour with the band – living the dream – but their tuned-in and dropped-out idyll is about to unravel. Something dark is pulling the strings, and the girls are about to discover the true cost of rock and roll.
“Groupies is a deeply personal book, born from mine and Lisa’s shared obsession with pulp horror, music, and the strange contradictions of being a woman in the world,” said Helen Mullane. ‘We wanted each girl’s voice to shine through—because groupies aren’t just muses or clichés, they’re complicated, messy, and real. I’m thrilled to be teaming with Mad Cave for the print release, giving readers the full, woozy experience of Tula Lotay’s stunning art—plus some new extras that make our trippy, dangerous world even richer.”
“Groupies has been a labour of love for Helen and I,” said Tula Lotay. “We both share so many interests in horror and music of the time. She had me pulled in at 'what if the satanic panic is real, and we follow a group of badass groupies finding that out'. That era is so rich with dark stories anyway. Throw psychedelics and some Argento colours into the mix and you have a story we both couldn't wait to get out there.”
It’s dreamy. It’s drugged, and it’s dangerous! Fans of Suspiria, Boogie Nights, Almost Famous, and exploitation cinema will fall hard for this surreal and seductive book. For readers who devoured Angel Claws, Underwinter, or The Girl from the Other Side—and anyone who ever fantasized about running off with a band.
Available for the first time in print following its successful digital release from Comixology Originals, Groupies hits comic shops and bookstores on November 4, 2025. Preorder at your local comic shop now—because not all dreams survive the tour.
Geek-Girl returns – with an Identity Crisis!
A new volume of the excellent series of Geek-Girl, with the fourth volume giving us an Identity Crisis from Markosia.
Since landing a pair of power-inducing super-tech glasses, ‘Geek-Girl’ (a moniker jokily given to Ruby Kaye by her BFF Summer James after Ruby’s initial difficulty handling her newfound super-strength led to some klutzy actions) has blossomed from a self-satisfying ‘It Girl’ to the heroine of her city of Maine – taking down major-threat super-villain Lightning Storm and playing an integral part in stemming the crime wave that sprung up in the wake of the damage Lightning Storm did to Maine’s law enforcement.
Created and written by Sam Johnson (The Almighties, Cabra Cini: Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman) and illustrated by C Granda (Charmed, Grimm Fairy Tales) – the Geek-Girl: Identity Crisis TPB finds Geek-Girl fronting a new Super-Team funded by entrepreneur Johnny Carlyle. But just as that’s about to get off the ground, Ruby is going to encounter a threat unlike anything she’s faced before – in the form of Identity Thief, who wants to be her – literally - and has the powers to do it!
Johnson fills us in on what the new story arc means for Geek-Girl; “Ruby has grown from being a party girl, used to getting anything she wants, into a self-sacrificing Heroine, who’s about helping others… Or has she? When Identity Thief strips Geek-Girl of her looks and infiltrates her life, we’re going to find out what Ruby Kaye is really made of.”

And just as Geek-Girl experiences her Identity Crisis, her BFF Summer – who kind of pushed her into the ‘whole Super-Hero thing’ in the first place - is out to get her own powers and fill the gap in Geek-Girl’s team left by one of its members pulling out.
Johnson continues, “Having borrowed Ruby’s super-tech glasses and filled in as Geek-Girl while Ruby was out of action after her battle with Lightning Storm, Summer is in love with the idea of being her own Super-Heroine, and is going to do whatever it takes to become one and be a part of GG’s team… which involves hooking up with the power-sharing Hive – whose other members – Glassy Lady and Pete the Pimp – are...not exactly typical heroes – and Summer’s aspirations are going to lead her down a dark path...

Aw, Nuts! from Emmy Award-winning creator team Max Beaudry and David Perry
More all-ages fun from Papercutz, with the upcoming Aw, Nuts!: The Crumbelievable Adventures of Peanut & Jelly.
Get your just desserts with this pun-tastic buddy comedy, featuring Peanut and Jelly!

Every morsel falls into place within the Foodtopia Pyramid. Well-peeled fancy folks reign from the toppings, average doughs make up the filling, and at the bottom, the odd-foods-out form the crumbs.
This is where we find Peanut and Jelly. They may be lowly employees at the Crumb Dump for now, but these ride-or-fries are determined to rise to the coveted upper crust. But when they accidentally unleash a Crumb Feeder into the city, their plans look shakier than an uneven souffle!
This tale has steaks, artichoke heart, and is ripe with comedy!
“What started as a collection of my terrible food character doodles, slowly grew into a story of best food dudes trying to climb the Foodtopia social hierarchy,” said creator Max Beaudry. “And with David Perry I found the perfect partner to bring this wacky idea to life. We jammed together just like Peanut and Jelly! Papercutz has been a crumbelievable partner, fully supporting this slapsticky book from the beginning. It’s truly a team effort and this food dude is grateful to all the magnificent morsels that helped make it happen!”
"Max had told me about this fever dream he had, where he was living in some kind of 'food world' with a peanut and a blob of jelly, and despite my best efforts to assure him that it wasn't any kind of prophecy, he kept sending me photographs of these very crude scrawlings he'd carved in the block walls of his basement. I couldn't salvage his sanity, but I could at least make the carvings a bit prettier and, well, now we have a publishing deal with Papercutz. I guess the proof really is in the pudding," said David Perry.
The book is available for preorder now wherever books are sold, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Bookshop.
