Well, I’m back!
And as per usual, I am brimming with new ideas. One of those was a change to how these emails go out. This one you are reading right here will be more general. With some commentary, notes and other items of interest. I’m planning on this continuing to be a two-weekly release. Meanwhile, a weekly email will be rounding up the various links from the last seven days.
Ibiza was a fantastic place, with some incredible beaches and views. We saw the quieter side, with the sunsets and Hippy Markets. On the lively side, we managed to go out to some bars and even checked out sets by David Guetta and Calvin Harris. I think we will go there again. The weather was hot, and now, as I write this, it is hotter in the UK - but we live far away from the sea and have no pool :(
There is some fantastic news of the return of the Big F#@k Off Worms. Issue one was originally serialised on Twitter (X) during the pandemic and then had a successful Kickstarter. So, it’s great to see issue #2, available now by Matt Garvey and Francis Totti.
Based on a true story...(seriously, I'm not even joking) On December 5th, 2018, thousands of worms were shot into space to scientists aboard the international space station so they could see how a worm’s muscles would react in zero gravity with the hope it would aid them in the research to stop muscular dystrophy in astronauts.
This next bit is not so true, but still thoroughly entertaining…
However, after a freak radiation storm, the space station is destroyed and the debris along with the irradiated worms are sent hurtling back to earth. That was twelve years ago and now on Earth, we have…BIG F#@K OFF WORMS…and Petey is the only man who can stop them!
From the pull list. I am still enjoying the current Moon Knight stories. They seem to be cutting a nice niche in the Marvel Universe, with only some glances towards anything outside of the main characters. Moon Knight works well like this.
Talking of universes. In the Star Wars Universe, the Dark Droids storyline continues, and I love how it links into some of the existing stories - some more than others.
I also picked up Kill Your Darlings #1 from Image Comics. This looks to be an interesting story, with the lines between what is real and what is imaginary very blurred. I will probably get #2 to see how it moves on.
I’m a big fan of the work of PJ Holden and am subscribed to his newsletter, as part of that, he has been releasing some micro-fiction zines to print out at home.
These have an excellent old-school feel to them, with a modern twist. With some short fiction and words, they are something to look forward to!
Finally, some housekeeping. 3 Million Years has been going on for a long time - close to 12 years, and I hope to continue. The move over to Substack has worked well with subscribers and visitors to the site as a whole. In the future, I want to start maybe doing some audio or video posts - we shall see about that.
Meanwhile, I will be more on other substack tools, such as notes, and the chat threads will feature more previews and short information, as well as special content and sales information for paid subscribers.
