The early 80s saw 2000 AD hit its golden era. With Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, Sláine and more firing on all cylinders it became the UK’s most exciting and innovative comic. Its covers played no small part in its appeal, and those covers were the brainchild of Robin Smith whose job was to lay out a cover design to pass to an artist who would transform it into the finished product.
This collection of some of Smith's cover layouts shows just how integral his ideas were to some of 2000 AD’s most famous and revered covers, and it’s a fascinating glimpse into the creative process.
Featuring covers by some of the galaxy’s greatest artists, including Brian Bolland (The Killing Joke), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Carlos Ezquerra (Judge Dredd), Kevin O’Neill (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Mick McMahon (Judge Dredd), Ian Gibson (The Ballad of Halo Jones), Alan Davis (Captain Britain), Steve Dillon (Preacher), Cam Kennedy (Rogue Trooper), Massimo Belardinelli (Ace Trucking Co.), Eric Bradbury (Mytek The Mighty), Brett Ewins (Johnny Nemo), Glenn Fabry (Sláine), Ian Kennedy (Dan Dare), José Ortiz (The Thirteenth Floor), Cliff Robinson (Judge Dredd), Kim Raymond (Roy of the Rovers), Ron Smith (Judge Dredd), Brendan McCarthy (Rogan Gosh) and Bryan Talbot (Nemesis the Warlock).

Explore the Unknown in FAR DOWN BELOW, a Thrilling New Miniseries from Mad Cave Studios, coming 2025
A new miniseries from Mad Cave Studios is coming in 2025. Check out the details and preview pages below of Far Down Below.
Deep beneath the surface, where light fades and shadows rule, a hidden world awaits—full of wonder, danger, and secrets that could change everything.
Mad Cave Studios is thrilled to announce FAR DOWN BELOW, a gripping 6-issue supernatural adventure series from acclaimed writer Christopher Condon (That Texas Blood, Green Arrow) and celebrated artist and colorist Gegê Schall (Made in Korea, Better Angels). This thrilling series invites readers on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Pennsylvania, where long-buried secrets and hidden dangers await discovery.
Featuring Cover A by Jacob Phillips (That Texas Blood) and Cover B by Eisner Award-winning artist Francesco Francavilla (The Black Beetle), Far Down Below promises a visually stunning and emotionally resonant experience. Prepare to uncover the mysteries of the Hollow Earth—because what lies far down below has the power to change everything.
In the summer of 1983, teen friends Mike and Brian seek escape from rainy day boredom by exploring Brian’s abandoned family home, a notoriously haunted house. What they find below their sleepy Eastern Pennsylvania suburb will unlock the doors to adventure—and danger.
“Far Down Below is a story that I've wanted to tell since high school. People grow old, but stories never do, so I'm incredibly excited to be tackling this long-gestating project with a phenomenal artist like Gegê Schall and our editor, Marla Eizik, at Mad Cave Studios,” said Chris Condon. “This story is both a personal look back at the highs and lows of being a teenager and an exciting, and sometimes scary, thrill ride down into the center of Eastern Pennsylvania. I hope Far Down Below connects with readers as it did with me nearly sixteen years ago when I dreamt up the idea.”
“Being familiar with Chris Condon's work, I was instantly very excited when I was asked to collaborate with him, but not until I read the script and fell in love with the story and the characters that I realized what a treat I was in for,” said Gegê Schall. “These two boys remind me so much of me and my friends when I was a kid, and I think I've been working on this book for that exact inner child that still exists in me. The emotional turmoil, the thirst for adventure, the family drama, the goofiness, it's all there. Plus the scary monsters, the cool locations, the wild characters...I'm so happy to have helped Chris in bringing Far Down Below to life, and if readers have half as much fun reading the book as I've had drawing it, I'll consider my job well accomplished.”
If The Goonies had been penned by 1980s Stephen King, the result would be Far Down Below. This thrilling new series debuts on March 26, 2025, and is now available for preorder!

This milestone year is a testament to the connection we’ve built with our audience, and we’re grateful to have you on this journey with us.

Fans can look forward to seeing our heroes alongside legends like Tomorrow Girl, Sgt. Flag, and Megaton Man in unforgettable stories continuing into 2025.
Engaging with our community remains a top priority. In 2024, we launched a YouTube channel to provide behind-thescenes insights and celebrate the Easter eggs woven into our comics. While our founders Len Mihalovich and Phil Miller cherish meeting fans at conventions, Mona and Sam, our dynamic podcast duo, have taken on the task of sharing behind-the-scenes insights into the making of our comics and revealing the many Easter eggs hidden within our stories.
To commemorate our 10th anniversary, we’re excited to announce that Section 12 (Flashback) #1 and Section 12 (Declassified) #1 are available to read for free on our website. This is our way of thanking our readers and inviting new fans to experience the stories that started it all.
On Patreon, we expanded access to exclusive content, making much of our private material available to free-tier members. Paid supporters were also treated to special surprises mailed directly to them, enhancing their connection to the world of Lenovations Press.
Reflecting on the journey, founder Len Mihalovich and chief artist Phil Miller revisited their original mission of "comics done for fun." Len Mihalovich asked Phil Miller, "Is it still fun?" They both said yes and renewed their commitment to bringing readers even more exciting adventures in 2025 and beyond.
Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to a bright future filled with creativity and connection. Happy New Year from all of us at Lenovations Press!
