This past weekend, it was MCM Comic Con, and on Friday, I had the chance to go. This convention gets bigger yearly, with a larger section for tabletop gaming and a larger Artists Alley. It was highly enjoyable, and there was so much to take in. Here are the first part of my highlights.
Although there were a lot of people, the sections were wide, and it was well laid out. As with previous years and conventions, my feet and legs were weary. It has been suggested a carpet may be a good idea (like NYCC).
First up on these highlights is Iqbal Ali. With his book, Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones. I got the first three issues, and not only did I enjoy the story immensely, but also the information and commentary at the end of each issue.
There is some excellent art within, and it is a haunting story. And there will be a review coming from me soon. In the meantime, here is Iqbal giving us some details.
D9 Comics were new to me, but I was impressed with their passion and comics. They have a good selection of genres available - of course, I went for the science fiction - and a great team behind them.
Not only do they have physical comics, but digital ones, too. There is a quick preview of this in the video below.
I got Spacial Fictions and really enjoyed this anthology of short stories. More to come on this!
Last but not least on this update is Matt Garvey. A friend of mine and the site. It’s a weird one, as I have all his comics, but he is a great guy with a passion for comics. He has a wide selection of genres and has more to come.
He not only has comics, but also a series of videos on making comics too - well worth checking out.
When I arrived home, my special copy of Big F#@k Off Worms #2 was also waiting for me.
Even offering me a drink!
