B7 Comics to publish Iqbal Ali’s much-praised comic series “Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones” over two volumes.
Fantastic news for a fantastic series—I met creator Iqbal Ali a couple of years ago at a comic convention and loved the series then! B7 Comics has a gem on their hands with Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones.
B7 Comics is to publish Iqbal Ali’s much-praised independent 12-issue comic book series ”Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones” over two graphic novels.
Set in 1867 in England and India, offering a heady mix of murder, mystery and secrets societies, Volume 1 collects the first seven chapters of “Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones” and will be released in November 2025.
1867. The East India Company has fallen, and a smoking skeleton is killing ex-company members. A drug-addled Indian detective with a deep-rooted hatred of the British Empire is drawn into the investigation and enters a world of secret societies and the occult.
Fortean Times describes “Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones” as a series "…where science and the occult met in the shadow of the British Empire... An excellent comic told from a different perspective to others set in this era.”
BSFA, Eagle and Hugo Award winning writer Paul Cornell says: "An extraordinary work, an afterlife mystery approached almost as science fiction, with layers of politics and history. It feels like nobody's written any previous comics and a master stylist has started anew without reference to genre or medium. In other words, Iqbal Ali is the new Alan Moore."
Iqbal Ali says of his new partnership with B7 Comics: “I’m delighted to be partnering with B7 Comics to publish Mr Jones's Smoking Bones. I've been a fan of their work on radio and comics for a while, especially the incredible audio dramas on Audible. So, to have my work alongside that catalogue is an honour. B7’s commitment to boundary-pushing work makes them the perfect partner for this project."
Publisher, Andrew Mark Sewell, says: “I was immediately struck by Iqbal setting his story during a fascinating period in British colonial history, melding a supernatural mystery story, with the politics of the time, not shying away from the inherent racism. It’s a story that intrigues and demands your attention from the first page, with hints of science fiction, and not a superhero in sight, which is refreshing. It’s exactly this kind of rich, character led stories that defines what B7 Comics is all about.”
Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones is illustrated by Priscilla Grippa and written by Iqbal Ali, published by B7 Comics. Mr Jones’s Smoking Bones (Vol 1) graphic novel (202 pgs / RRP £22.95) will be available from GetMyComics/B7 from 1 November 2025 and available now to pre-order from B7Media.com.
Disney's The Lion King Pounces Into New Comics Series!
A classic film, and now with Disney and Dynamite Comics, a comic series. Check out the details of The Lion King and it’s out in November 2025.
Hakuna matata! The beloved world of The Lion King makes its way to comic books this November with a breakout project from writer and artist Edwin Galmon.

Fans are invited to return to the sweeping plains of Africa for a brand-new set of adventures starring Mufasa and a young Simba. Set in the golden time during the events of the Walt Disney Animation Studios 1994 film, Galmon's new series takes place while Simba is young and before Scar has risen to power. Audiences will follow the ruler of the Pride Lands and his young heir as they navigate the complex web of relationships across their vast kingdom. Mufasa will teach his son how to defend their home against the forces that threaten their peace and harmony from both outside and within their pack.
Multitalented creator Edwin Galmon is no stranger to Dynamite's Disney comics line, with a range of riveting covers and artwork on titles like Lilo & Stitch, The Terminator, Mr. Terrific: Year One, and more. Now, The Lion King is set to not only be his most sizable artistic undertaking and major writing debut in the industry.
"Having the honor and opportunity to work with the regal The Lion King franchise is a humbling experience. This is where my childhood imagination meets my adulthood craftsmanship and with excitement, I hope people really enjoy the story we have cooked up!," said writer and artist Edwin Galmon. "As a kid my favorite parts of The Lion King movie were all the scenes featuring Mufasa and Simba together because I related to how much I love and respect my dad. With that in mind, I wanted to have more father-son bonding, loving guidance, goofy playtimes and mentorship themes for Simba to enjoy with his dad."
The world of The Lion King and its safari setting is full of beloved characters and exciting new faces. Fans will get to see a mix of both across each chapter of this new Disney epic. A touching story about a father and son, it's also enjoyable for all ages and ideal for parents sharing the story with their children.
Galmon is joined by top tier artists Meghan Hetrick, Jacob Edgar, and Giulia Lomurno on variant covers for the series.
The Lion King is widely lauded as one of Disney’s iconic films. The awards-winning Disney Animation blockbuster continues to impact fans of all ages, and across media. This new Dynamite comic series also brings things full circle, as Disney Villains: Scar marked one of the publisher's first forays in bringing Disney magic to comics.
