This week’s pick of the week is Seven Wives #2 from IDW Crime.

Review: Seven Wives #2
The investigation continues in Seven Wives #2 and we get to know this family more from IDW Crime, the new imprint from IDW Publishing.
The murder of Matthew Dunn — husband, father, and leader — has devastated the Dunn family. Or so they’d like outsiders to believe. As the detectives unravel the case before them by interrogating Matthew’s seven wives, they discover he was not the saint he painted himself to be. Although some of the widows mourn the loss, the Dunns may be safer free from the heavy hand with which Matthew ruled.
But his presence lingers, and the detectives sense the FLDS leader has more secrets hiding behind every door.

I’ve been on a detective story kick at the moment; it probably comes from when I recently binge-watched the Glass Onion films and the Thursday Murder Club. Even so, this series has really stuck with me, having a nice hook into who done it!
I like the cast of characters, and the two detectives seem to be good at their jobs and asking all the right questions. As we dive deeper into the mystery, we discover more about the church and the victim – there is more sympathy for the wives than the dead husband.
This issue adds a lot, especially with that final page reveal that throws a whole new aspect to the story, the murder and the title of the comic.
I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out next!
