Quantum No.8 is the second issue of the anthology’s second year. Selling exclusively in newsagents and via the Quantum Prime subscription, the ongoing series has been praised for its high-quality content and for bringing comics back to the high street.
In this latest issue:
Major Rakhana sees the Victorian Space Ace beginning a perilous new mission on Mars (writer Steve Tanner, line art Roland Bird, colours John Charles, letters Rob Jones).
WesterNoir: Dead End continues with Cassidy encountering more horrors that plague a western border town (writer Jemma West, art Gareth Sleightholme).
The Very Strange Reappearance of Peter Thomson sees Peter test his ability in a whole new way (writer Dave West, art Gustaffo Vargas).
The Baker Street Irregulars where the bizarre angel continues to cause chaos (story, art David Morris, inks Patrick O’Connor).
Kingdom, complete this issue, where a mechanical outcast tries to find acceptance in the circus. (writer Dave West, art El Indio).
Alongside these exciting stories, Quantum continues to highlight the British indie comic book industry, and this month’s issue features an article on long-running news and reviews website, Down the Tubes.
Quantum is also available directly via a Quantum Prime subscription through Time Bomb’s Patreon page. As well as the Quantum comic subscribers receive an exclusive extra with each issue, such as limited-edition releases and unique merch produced just for Quantum Prime subscribers. To avoid directly competing with newsagents, the issues of Quantum sent out as part of the Quantum Prime initiative also have special variant covers.
Quantum No.8 is available in newsagents from Thursday 20th June, priced £6.99.
Judge Dredd: A Better World is a collection of a brilliant 2000 AD storyline from Rebellion. This has all the aspects of a classic Judge Dredd storyline. I’m sure there will be some exciting ramifications coming from this too.
“Please excuse me while I pick my jaw up after that one” – Comics Beat
“Taut, pointed and bizarre, like much of the best Dredd … Flint is a trippy-noir marvel” – Kieron Gillen
"An instant classic story ... Judge Dredd remains one of the most relevant and incisive comics for our times" – Newsarama
It's the story which shocked readers and changed the face of Mega-City One! Judge Dredd: A Better World is available now for pre-order in both standard edition paperback and webshop-exclusive hardback editions. Don't miss out on your chance to own the critically acclaimed modern classic which left readers gasping!
A Better World is a modern Judge Dredd classic, a powerful story focusing on a large-scale experiment with the aim of making Mega-City One a better place for the citizens who live there, but if the experiment is successful them the power of the Judges could well be destroyed.
Writers Rob Williams and Arthur Wyatt, with artist Henry Flint, craft a taut political thriller that challenges readers to reassess what they think of the world of Judge Dredd. This collection also includes "Carry The Nine" and "The Pitch" with artist Boo Cook, "The Hard Way" with artist Jake Lynch, following Judge Maitland's plan to 'defund the judges' and instead invest into social programs and education from its inception through to execution.
A ground-breaking, heart-breaking story of hope, fear, politics and pathos, ‘A Better World’ is the modern Judge Dredd classic you do NOT want to miss!
Judge Dredd: A Better World is available to pre-order either in paperback or webshop-exclusive hardback editions today! Head to the 2000 AD website for more information.
Mad Cave Studios has announced a new science fiction series coming in September 2024 - Dark Empty Void - and the artwork looks fantastic.
Horror feels different when you’re on the inside…
Mad Cave Studios is thrilled to announce DARK EMPTY VOID, the new 5-issue science fiction miniseries written by hit creator Zack Kaplan (Kill All Immortals, Beyond Real, Mindset), with art by Chris Shehan (The Autumnal, House of Slaughter), featuring colors by rising star Francesco Segala (Nights, House of Slaughter) and letters by Ringo-nominated Justin Birch (Road of Bones, House of Slaughter).
Scientists have created a stable, microscopic black hole in a secret underground compound, but when they lose control, the black hole spews out a cosmic maelstrom, strange dangerous creatures, and most surprisingly…a mysterious human teenage girl. Now, a depressed but brilliant psychologist must help her estranged husband and the other scientists solve the mystery and close the black hole before it consumes all of Earth.
“As our understanding of both quantum physics and astrophysics evolves, scientists are more intrigued than ever by black holes—I wonder how can something so indomitable and massively suck up stars, but leave nothing behind and simply disappear,” said Zack Kaplan. “With Dark Empty Void, we’ve taken this idea and filled it with monsters and madness, then helmed it with a powerful and complex heroine to create a thrilling, non-stop sci-fi horror adventure. To bring it to Mad Cave, where I’ve been so impressed by their meteoric rise over the past decade, I’m very excited to join them on my first foray into horror to explore the beauty and dangers of the cosmos. I’ve been absolutely in love with Chris Shehan’s art work for years, and I’m overjoyed to team up on this journey together. With Francesco on colors and Justin on letters, this is an impressively gorgeous book that will wow you with the big moments, tear you up with the character story and scare the hell out of you with the rest. This series is going to be as big as they come, and I cannot wait for you all to witness it.”
“Black holes have terrified and fascinated me since I was a child. Being able to share a fun, intense, beautiful, and horrifying take on black holes is exciting!” said Chris Shehan. “Zack Kaplan is just the right writer for a story like this and Francesco Segala is a dream colorist to work with and all of us are bringing our best for Dark Empty Void.”
Dare to witness a series that will amaze and terrify you. For fans of James Stokoe’s Alien: Dead Orbit and the film Ex Machina, this is the ultimate action-adventure laced with sci-fi tale and horror.
Featuring cover B by Christian Ward (ODY-C), Dark Empty Void #1 is in comic shops Sept. 11th.
Rebellion has announced a new crossover in the pages of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine - Nordland Rising!
War Has Been Declared!
This September, the Nort Army are setting out to conquer the 2000 AD Multiverse - and it's going to take some unlikely allies to stop them!
The massive crossover event story Nordland Rising will see Rogue Trooper's oldest enemies invade multiple different storylines from across 2000 AD's history, as they take on Judge Dredd, Bad Company, Fiends of the Eastern Front, The VCs and more. Spread across 2000 AD Prog 2400 and Judge Dredd Megazine 472, this is an all-out action assault - and The Norts aren't taking any prisoners!
Featuring stories from Ken Niemand, John McCrea, Peter Milligan, Ian Edginton, Nick Percival, Dan Abnett, Gordon Rennie, Simon Coleby, and more, Nordland Rising will see the return of familiar faces including Jaegir and Major Eazy as the War begins in 2000 AD and then crosses over for the epic climax in Judge Dredd Megazine. This is a great way to jump onboard 2000 AD for the first time and get a blast of action from some of The Galaxy's Greatest writers and artists.
