Review: 2000 AD - Prog 2287

From Rebellion and out now!

The latest prog of 2000 AD is out now, and this week features a one-shot Judge Dredd story, and a new Terror Tales among the current stories. Here are my thoughts on Prog 2287.

Judge Dredd: Grinder by Ken Niemand (w) Nick Dyer (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A fun one-shot story with an alien intelligence finding its way to Mega-City One. I loved the humour in this and even Dredd had some wry comments to say about all of this. There’s even the chance of a return to this!

Hope: In The Shadows by Guy Adams (w) Jimmy Broxton (a) Jim Campbell (l)

This was a great read and kept me hooked. The way that Hope laid it all out was excellent, with a nice twist to get away. Then we get to the final panels and it all changes again. I’m looking forward to what comes next.

Skip Tracer: Valhalla by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon  Bowland (l)

This worked out really well. We got a good father/daughter moment and another hint at Eden’s powers. Then there are the people watching them. We get a good look at who they are and what they want - but why?

Terror Tales: Music of the Spheres by Kek-W (w) Warren Pleece (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A classic feeling Terror Tale. I like the twisted way it played out - starting off mundane and adding something weird. The music aspect was interesting and I liked the characters. This had a good twist at the end that gives a shudder.

Brink: Mercury Retrograde by Dan Abnett (w) INJ Culbard (a) Simon Bowland (l)

This issue really pushes it forward. Something big has happened and it may or may not be connected. Nevertheless, for a talking-heads issue it was pretty intense and gives us a way forward.
