JUDGE DREDD // A BETTER WORLD by Rob Williams & Arthur Wyatt (w) Henry Flint (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
The tension with the defunding of the Judges and the ongoing threat is getting closer. I like the thoughts of Dredd here, and Maitland does have the best of intentions. Major Domo may cause this all to be for naught though.
THE ENGLISH ASTRONAUT by Paul Cornell (w) Laura Helsby (a) Matt Soffe (c) Jim Campbell (l)
A new thriller, with a look at a very British mission. I like the way this plays out and the different time periods look to be interesting. There is some interesting science fiction here, and I look forward to what comes next.
FULL TILT BOOGIE // BOOK TWO by Alex de Campi (w) Eduardo Ocana (a) Eva De La Cruz (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
A return to the Full Tilt Boogie and there is two parts to this issue. I like the different moods they bring and it really gets the story moving fast.
It’s good they had a refresh from the previous book.
Teenager Tee is a bounty hunter/hired help, operating out of her ship, the Full Tilt Boogie, and assisted by her grandmother and a cat with transdimensional abilities. Tasked with rescuing Prince Ifan of the Luxine Empire from debtors’ prison, she crash-landed on a moon where she discovered a resurrected Anubite warrior, Black Dog – one of the Luxine’s most hated enemies. Luxine knights were dispatched in pursuit, including Ifan’s sister Nix, who was injured as she refused to carry out Luxine’s orders. While Tee and co flew off in search of safe harbour and a hospital, Luxine is preparing for war...
ENEMY EARTH // BOOK THREE by Cavan Scott (w) Luke Horsman (a) Simon Bowland (l)
We get some good answers here - it’s all a millions year old misunderstanding! Kind of. Even so, I like that this gives some answers and introduces a new threat to fight against…
THISTLEBONE // THE DULE TREE by T.C. Eglington (w) Simon Davis (a) Simon Bowland (l)
Back to the filming and it seems like there are more problems. I like the tension in this, and the final panels are particularly creepy.
