JUDGE DREDD // CONFESSIONS OF A WINDOW CLEANER DROID by Ken Niemand (w) Nicolo Assirelli (a) Quinton Winter (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
An excellent-looking new story arc with Dredd leaning on a previous contact to help him in solving a murder (or two?). I love the cliffhanger and I think it will be an fun following issue to the story.
SCARLET TRACES // EMPIRE OF BLOOD by Ian Edginton (w) D'Israeli (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)
A great piece where we see the robbery of the machinery. It is not only well crafted and has some clever art and colouring, but the final page adds a new dimension to the story.
FUTURE SHOCKS // THE PROPHECY OF LEKBITH THE GREAT & TERRIBLE by Rob Williams (w) Simon Coleby (a) Jack Davies (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
Ah! prophecies - they never work the way that you expect, and this being a future shock it has some very good twists and turns here. I love the styling of it and the use of the fantasy tropes to the very end.
NU EARTH WAR TALES // THE MAJOR by Gordon Rennie (w) Jake Lynch (a) Dylan Teague (c) Jim Campbell (l)
A slightly different look at the origins of the GI’s and I like how we not only get some different types, but some issues with their personalities. It’s kind of like a secret history and I wonder how this links with Rogue?
GHOSTED // BOOK ONE by Guy Adams (w) Megan Huang (a) Simon Bowland (l)
It feels like we’re getting to the end of the story arc and things are coming out in the open. I like how that is done, and I liked the cliffhanger at the end.
FIENDS OF THE WESTERN FRONT // RED TIDE by Ian Edginton (w) Nick Percival (a) Jim Campbell (l)
A great one-shot that wets the appetite for the main series. The dark art and horror aspects are brilliant, and I love the build-up and the mistakes made by the crew and those who are after the Count.
JUDGE DREDD VS STRONTIUM DOG by Garth Ennis (w) Henry Flint (a) Rob Steen (l)
It’s always great to see a team-up between these two! A clever look at both characters and what drives them. This had some excellent moments and works as a good bookend here!
