JUDGE DREDD // AND TO THE SEA RETURN by Rob Williams (w) Henry Flint (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)
This is really ramping up the threat level. I like that it looks at the Chief Judge's thought process and what he is going through. The answers we seek will be interesting here, as will be who ends up left.
RED DRAGON by Rob Williams (w) Steve Yeowell & Patrick Goddard (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)
Things are picking up both in the past and in the future. The bookending works well, as do the plans we know of in the past and how they have impacted the future. We may start to get the link between them sooner after this issue.
BIG-ASS SWORD // DEFRAG PROCESS by Andreas Butzbach
This is a good short story that links with the release of the excellent Big-Ass Sword. It has a fun sci-fi concept and a cheeky hint at other things in this world and beyond.
VOID RUNNERS // BOOK TWO by David Hine (w) Boo Cook (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)
Well, that took a turn! And it makes a lot of sense, which should be obvious with hindsight. It really changes the feel of the story here, and I can see things getting a lot more panicked. The facial reactions made me laugh.
BRASS SUN // PAVANE by Ian Edginton (w) INJ Culbard (a) Simon Bowland (l)
Of course, there is an attempted rescue, and it doesn’t go to plan. I like how it goes. It has some excellent moments and the back and forth in the dialogue. And an explosive finish, too.
NIGHTMARE NEW YORK // HARD TIMES by Kek-W (w) David Roach (a) Peter Doherty (c) Jim Campbell (l)
This is an excellent epilogue to the story we have had and a good tease for the future. It sets the scene well and finishes what we learned from the previous arc. The storytelling technique was well played and leads into the next adventure—and location—well.
ROGUE TROOPER // GHOST PATROL by Alex de Campi (w) Neil Edwards (a) Matt Soffe (c) Jim Campbell (l)
An all-action issue, and it looks like the Norts have something new up their sleeve. The issue is fast-paced and has all the hallmarks of a Rogue Trooper story. Now to work out who else gets out of this alive!
