Review: 2000 AD - Prog 2467
From Rebellion
Two new stories begin in this week’s 2000 AD. In Prog 2467, there is a Judge Dee tale beginning and a new beginning for Tharg’s 3Rilliers from Rebellion.
JUDGE DREDD // DEATH OF A JUDGE by John Wagner (w) Mike Perkins (a) Chris Blythe (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
This was a good split of a story, with Judge Dredd's investigation and the mysterious would-be assassin giving his background and plans. Both with their own internal monologue!
HERNE & SHUCK // POWER TRIP by David Barnett (w) Lee Milmore (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
A new location for Herne, and there is a little secret for him in this issue. Meanwhile, things don’t look good at home, and there are some interesting acts by the cult and the higher levels of government!
JUDGE DEE by Ben Wheatley (w) Simon Coleby (a) Jack Davies (c) Simon Bowland (l)
Mixing psi and supernatural here, and an interesting mix after a botched exorcism. I like the cross between the two, although it is a small difference. It makes the investigation interesting.
THARG'S 3RILLERS // MONEY SHOT: HIGH STAKES by Kek-W (w) Rob Richardson (a) Rob Steen (l)
A good starting issue with a nice cliffhanger and a good setup. There’s the mob, accounts and vampires. A great idea and an excellent start.
THE DISCARDED by Peter Milligan (w) Kieran McKeown (a) Jim Boswell (c) Simon Bowland (l)
More twisting here, as we wonder who is in the right? I like the way it is setting up the inevitable confrontation, with plenty of interesting characters and a lot of action.
