Working on from my review of issue #1 of this new mini-series, a was rapidly pulled in by the characters, the art, and the story within. Issue #1 gives a good introduction and leaves you wondering what happens next. In the next four issues, you get a twisted story you would come to expect with knowing this team involved.
The characters are well-rounded - no one is perfect and shiny, and here we get into that. There are some tough decisions made for all, and I like how we see the ups, downs and further movements of the characters. Issue #1 features mainly Alfie, but in the later issues, we build on this world and meet new characters who all have their own views.
What I like about this series is that some interesting viewpoints on social media and the cult of celebrity resonate with the story but could be just as valid here.
This is certainly a series worth picking up. With some excellent art and colouring, brilliant action shots and explosive moments, as well as some well-done character work. The colours pop out at you well but also portray the shadier side of the story, in the underbelly of LA.
The story itself resonates well and could easily spawn a sequel; I could see more to be told with these characters.
Like me, I would hope that you would pick up this story and won’t put it down until the end.
With a wry smile on your face!
