A new mini-series from Archie Comics, with each issue from a different point of view. I thought I would jump in and check it out. This is Archie Is Mr. Justice #1.
A new superhero mini-series debuts, featuring the first appearance of Archie as the modern iteration of Mr. Justice. Each issue will feature a different character's POV and a different creative team; this one is Jughead's story, written by Tim Seeley with art by Mike Norton.
An interesting new mini-series from Archie Comics is here. I think that’s one that new readers and fans of the characters can get into.
Each issue is told from a different viewpoint, and here we have Jughead narrating the adventures of Mr. Justice. It’s a clever story with a different point of view of the new hero for the city. There are some telling gaps in the story, which I am sure will be filled in in future issues as we learn other aspects of the hero’s journey.
It’s not short on action, with some entertaining fight scenes, villains, monsters and robots to fight against, and the more mundane aspects of being a hero - like choosing a costume.
I enjoyed both the storytelling and narration in this issue, with Jughead being pretty honest (especially at the end) over his part in the rise and fall of Mr. Justice. Combining some of that with some teen angst, this is a well-thought-out story with some excellent character moments.
As an introduction to the series, this kicks off correctly. There is more to discover and I look forward to seeing the same scenes from other views and referring back to this initial issue to see how things link up.
