JOHNNY RED // A COUPLE OF HEROES by Garth Ennis (w) Keith Burns (a) Jason Wordie (c) Rob Steen (l)
It’s good to get some backstory on Johnny, and this issue gives us that and some prior relationships. The flashbacks are really well done, and they give us a slight reason as to why Johnny is where he is and his attitude. From what I have learned about the Battle of Britain, the meaning behind the story can come true. There is a good hook into the rest of the story and the upcoming mission.
HMS NIGHTSHADE by John Wagner (w) Dan Cornwell (a) Matt Soffe (c) Rob Steen (l)
There is some excellent action here, and I love how the fog makes the battle more difficult. The character moments and tension are well done here, and I like the bookending of the story.
