Dredger from Garth Ennis and John Higgins brings us some gritty revenge from 1981. There are various references to the time there, and I love those. The dark, dark humour is well embedded towards the very end! Dredger works his way through various characters as he looks to rescue a very important person - his mother! It was well played out and what you would expect from this character and team. I love the pacing and the mad action happening here.
If you're a fan of unflinching action, surprising plot twists, and a hero who's as tough as nails, then Dredger is a must-read. The artwork by Higgins is absolutely stellar, capturing the grittiness of the era and the raw intensity of the story. And let's not even get started on Ennis' writing - pure genius. The way he weaves intricate relationships and high-stakes scenarios is truly remarkable. Dredger is a blast from the past that hits hard and leaves an impact.
Major Eazy takes us back to WWII with Rob Williams writing a classic story in the battle in Africa. There are some nice links to the real history, and I really love the events, tactics and research on the vehicles and weapons used. Henry Flint’s art takes us from day to night and not only brings us the wild battles but the tensions of walking through a minefield. I was tense reading that!
Major Eazy is not just a comic, it's a thrilling journey back in time that gives you a unique perspective on the hardships and triumphs of war. The nuanced character development, coupled with the riveting plot and historically accurate details, creates an immersive experience that feels both educational and entertaining. I would highly recommend this comic to anyone who enjoys war stories, history, or simply a good read. Hats off to Rob Williams and Henry Flint for this masterpiece!
