Continuing the action storytelling is the latest issue of Battle Action, with Johnny Red and Death Game 1999 from the Treasury Of British Comics.
JOHNNY RED // A COUPLE OF HEROES by Garth Ennis (w) Keith Burns (a) Jason Wordie (c) Rob Steen (l)
Some good character background here, and it also moves the plot along nicely. Johnny knows that he hasn’t been told the whole story and wants to get to the bottom of it all.
There is some fantastic art, with all the flying and the other aircraft involved. I like the small bit of action we get and the build-up to the mission happening. This continues to be an excellent longer story for the flying ace.
DEATH GAME 1999 by Dan Abnett (w) Tom Foster (a) Rob Steen (l)
This was an entertaining story, with some interesting commentary on the game being played. Having it called ‘1999’ made me smile and I liked how it was building up. The mercenary aspect to the game was excellent and it finished like a Future Shock!
