Giving Belle a chance to concentrate on something different, her past still has a habit of rushing back. This time there are two aspects of it. First, she is checking in on someone who was 'turned' by the Serpent King in a previous story. This is problematic, as Belle had thought she had cured her - nope!
On top of that, snakes feature a lot in this issue, with an ancient snake causing trouble and eating people. There is also the threat of more of these giant snakes appearing. Nevertheless, in a conversation of minds, Belle and the serpent has an interesting conversation, which links with not only the 'death' of her mother but her battles with the gods.
This is an interesting middle issue, with some good action and some things for Belle to mull over in the future - possibly giving her a quest to go on.
