After the first issue’s cliffhanger, we discover what happens next in Beyond Real #2 from Vault Comics.
June lands in a strange geometric layer of life’s simulation, where dark creatures hunt corrupted souls who dare to pass over the boundary. With the help of a crew of cynical human survivors, June must come to terms with her new powers and escape this limbo before being formatted out of existence.

After June enters into this new world, we find ourselves following her as she is chased across the landscape. It’s quite a fast-moving action set, with some excellent opportunities to show off the art.
We also get to meet some new characters, and June has differing reactions to them all. I like how this plays out, and June learns a little more about this world and what she needs to do to get by in it all.
The extra characters make this less of a lonely task and add some new viewpoints to the story. And for June.
Time seems to act differently here, and the part of those who have been here longer is interesting, and I do wonder if that will make up any more of the story.
There is a great advantage to this aspect of the story, too - the art changes up as we are in the new world. A flashback to times gone by makes a good juxtaposition to the rest of the story. The fluid movements work well, as do the washed colours.
This is an excellent second issue that moves forward for the rest of the story.
