The Chrononauts might be dead, but Hit-Girl can use their time travel technology to go back to the world of Empress. This is literally the maddest and most brilliant book out there right now. The comic book event of 2023 and a must for anyone who loves the Millarworld books, as every single character is here for the fun!
Writer - Mark Millar, Artist - Pepe Larraz, Colorist - Giovanna Niro & Letterer - Clem Robins
After the third issue, big events, this issue does slow things down ever so slightly. Hit Girl is stuck in the past and has even bigger problems to deal with. The world of the Empress is not where you want to be, and you can see why. Even so, this is an excellent part, and Hit Girl’s reactions work out very well. The art here is stupendous. This event and the meeting have some major ramifications, which will build towards the final issue.
Meanwhile, the cabal is celebrating to a degree, with some excellent moments as Wesley, Nemesis and the rest polish off the rest of the heroes. Things go exactly as you would expect, and the winning seems complete.
There is also a nice tease with the Magic Order, with a difficult non-aggression pact in place. You can really see in the art the conflict in their minds.
This was a big build-up for the Big Game and an excellent finish to the story. There is more to come, and I’m itching for the fight!
