Review: Boom Bandits Volume 2
"Respect Your Elders!"
Boom Bandits Volume 2 is coming out on the 5th of December, 2022, and I had a chance at an advance read of this excellent second issue from Bruno Stahl.
"Pixie and Freydank are tested by their newfound notoriety and will need to overcome unknown challenges to uncover the secrets of Agenics. Meanwhile, the Cyborg Youthanisers have not forgotten the powerful relic they encountered during their defeat in Scarcity. The youth of today needs to learn an old lesson; Respect your Elders!"
Building on this world as we see it now, with the various battles between rich and poor and old and young. This adds more to the mythos, with some people bucking the trend and the results that come out of it all.
There is an interesting prequel here, with a look at the parties of the old and rich and what they talk about. Things build up well, leading nicely to where we are now.
There are ongoing battles and some interesting betrayals - which were done for their own good, so it is slightly satisfying to see them get some sort of comeuppance.
The betrayals cause some problems when it comes down to it, and it will be interesting to see the concluding issue where this gets sorted out. As it is, we are left in an interesting place with a mission for both sides.
The art continues to be excellent, with some gritty scenes and well-played-out aspects. The battle panels have a real ‘block war’ feel, with chaos and fights breaking out. I love the characters’ details in this as well.
