As issue #0, this is an excellent beginning for established and new readers of Cabra Cini and the Geek-Girl universe.
First, we get a good introduction to Cabri Cini, with a brief introduction to her and what she does. The initial adventure works well as a setup, with some good action. There is clever storytelling here as we follow Cabri Cini on a mission to find someone. It sets up not only her powers and methods but also,as she works to her ‘client’, what obstacles are in her way. It combines some good action and some mystic items as well.
The second story serves multiple purposes. It links nicely to the Geek-Girl aspect while not putting off any non-readers of the series while ensuring that Cabri Cini is part of a larger world in the comics. There is also a slight delve into Cabri Cini’s background and past. It’s a clever part of the story and has possibilities in the future. Finally, it adds some new aspects, both with the ‘client’ and the background, into this part of limbo and where the comic may expand and lead to next.
This was a great read and worthy of picking up. Some great art, with mystical, cityscape and limbo, all add to the action and fun character moments. It is a good jumping-on point for new readers and Geek-Girl fans.
