From Zenescope Entertainment is a new mini-series featuring a princess who is back in the main realm. She’s got a new job too! This is Cinderella Vs The Queen Of Hearts #1.
It’s serial killer princess vs queen of…well, hearts, in this high-octane coming of age bloodbath of a story…filled with love, loss, lost love, lost heads, and, well, quite honestly, a lot of lost things including someone we won’t mention’s sanity. Hrh-hem, so Cinderella, now back in the real world and looking to make ends meet, is launched into a crown-on-collision with the Queen of Hearts, who is just trying to live life. Sounds fun…we know.

Cinderella is back on Earth and has fallen into a new role - killer for hire! This suits her but doesn’t come without some issues. Her madcap methods would make Deadpool blush, and there are some fun aspects before we get to the meat of the issue. She deals with her initial ‘client’, which builds towards her being hired to take out someone a bit different.
This looks to be a simple task - even with Cinderella’s unique method of tailing her target - and it all seems easy to her. Too easy, in fact, and what we get is a big twist with something a little harder for her to deal with.
From then on, it’s pretty fast-paced, with some fun violence and humourous traps. The finish plays out well for us to lead into the second act, and I look forward to seeing where that leads to.
Interspersed between these attempts, we get a hint at who is hiring Cinderella - and I like how their motives are left up in the air. It looks like they will be a problem for Cinderella moving forward.
The artwork mixes the cartoony and the (sort of) serious aspects well, with some great fun to be had on the double-page spread as Cinderella works her way towards her target. There are also some good action shots.
A fun beginning to a new story.
