An ongoing three issue heavenly horror zombie comic where the zombie apocalypse reaches the gates of heaven!
Creator - Jorge Alvarez
What would you do in a zombie apocalypse?
Probably die with all your tasty brains? That kind of makes sense, and then what happens? Your mindless husk would be shambling around, looking for your own supply of tasty brains.
Exodus Z looks at what happens next in a different way.
Religion has always featured heavily in apocalyptic stories, but usually, these are brushed over while the hero does their double-tap headshots and saves the day for what is left of humanity.
Here, we have religion taking centre stage, where people have died after being attacked by zombies, but the infection has spread, and now the outbreak is banging on the gates of Heaven.
It’s a manic build-up, which has chaos raining in on Earth as it is in Heaven. The zombies are relentless, and all it takes is one bite. This causes some difficult decisions to be made by the heavenly host, and a lot of action is going on.
I love the art style, and the difference between down on the streets contrasts nicely to Heaven, where things are much cleaner. There is a lot to draw the eye across too, with different styles, types and parts of zombies to look out for.
This was a fun introduction, with a great classic-feeling ending to the first issue, lining it up for what is to come.
