Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble
Out now from Zenescope Entertainment is the latest issue and the second in the arc with Grimm Fairy Tales #87.
With innocent souls caught in the crossfire, Skye Mathers, the Guardian of the Nexus, must do all she can to stop an evil magic from spreading and corrupting all it touches. Will she be enough, even with the help of Gretel the Witch Hunter, or will this malevolent darkness consume her too?!
Story by Joe Brusha, Ralph Tedesco, Dave Franchini & David Wohl, Writer - Dave Franchini, Artwork - Babisu Kourtis, Colors - Jorge Cortes, Letters - Taylor Esposito of Ghost Glyph Studios and Editor - Dave Franchini
Continuing the witch arc to this story there is an interesting meeting of minds between Skye and Gretel. I did like the note that Shang was aware of Gretel, and her work. Shang is getting better, but there are still things that he is aware of that the others aren’t.
Even so, this was a fast-paced issue with plenty of action violence and magic going around.
There was a crash course in the magic and the disposal of witches, along with some details on how to gain their powers. This was good in two ways - one, to give information to newer readers, and secondly for the ending of the issue.
Yes, there is another cliffhanger here and it’s a pretty grim decision that has to be made. The look on Skye’s face says it all.
Will this calm Gretel in her hunt and bring her more into the Grimm Universe? Hopefully!
