Although this is a part of the larger story overarching around the Grimm Universe, this was an interesting step sidewise.
Keres is taking a more active role here, not just a watcher, but she is more in the action, with Spencer taking on more even though Spencer doesn’t fully understand what is happening around her and to her.
There is also some level of confusion about the titular Lovecraft ancestor.
This confusion works well for us, the reader as well gets to fit together parts of what is happening and why. It allows us to be a couple of steps ahead, but not by too much.
The search for the Lovecraft ancestor is well played out - Keres and Spencer aren’t the only ones looking for him, and the reasoning behind them looking for him makes some good sense and will add to the larger storyline.
The enemy is very interesting and pretty big for a minion. There are some excellent action scenes involving all the characters with some creepy aspects as well.
The story plays out well, adding more to the arc while not giving us a full ending. I do wonder how this links into what else is happening.
