As Christmas approaches, more horror-themed stories are coming out of the woodwork, so it would be amiss if we didn’t get a special issue of Grimm Tales of Terror.
Usually, there is a framing technique around the stories, but I found this one very interesting. Instead of being around a person or type of person, this is related to a patch of land in New York city.
We follow this part of the city over the years as different buildings and residents live there. First, we get the origin of this cursed place and why it is so. From there, we go through the years and the different aspects of the times as this curse affects people.
The people themselves aren’t very nice, so we don’t get too sympathetic about them, and it is entertaining to see them get what is coming - the only question is how…
I like the different aspects of these stories. They are still horror but with a different twist and potential moral. That, combined with the excellent art and lettering, makes this a fantastic read.
Something to sit down with on a dark night.
