Review: Gunsmoke Icarus #1
On Comix.One
After a successful Kickstarter and now available on the Comix. One platform is Gunsmoke Icarus by AJ Lynch, Dan Rutledge and Dante Cutler.
Gunsmoke Icarus is a Sci-Fi / Cyberpunk / Crime Drama story set on the far-off planet of Gaia, millennia after humanity had abandoned the Old Earth. Built from the corpse of a crashed Colony Ship, the city of Icarus became home to a large portion of the remaining humans from Earth, and serves as a central hub for culture, commerce, and organized crime on Gaia. Our story follows Shion Juarez, a street kid with a mysterious past, and Leon Estevez, a young Cartel soldier with big shoes to fill.

Delving into a new series and world, you certainly hit the ground running in this first issue of Gunsmoke Icarus.
There is crime, action, and some interesting issues in the politics of this city. We start off with some good build-up as things seem tense, but they are all so normal as a drug deal goes ahead.
Even when things start to go bandy, there is a semblance of control until they aren’t, with the sound of a gunshot.
From here, it’s pretty frantic, with gunshots and action galore. The fight is well played out, and during it, we begin to find out more about our main characters. I enjoyed the art in these action sequences, and there are some well-plotted ideas.
Finishing off the issue, it does an excellent job of letting us have a done-in-one story and something to look forward to in later issues.
Something to check out for fans of dystopian science fiction with a blend of crime.
