This week from Zenescope Entertainment is the latest horror comic - Horror & Fantasy Illustrated – Plum Island.
Sitting less than 100 miles from New York City, the infamous Plum Island has, for decades, been the home of a government laboratory devoted to studying the most dangerous diseases to the animal population. But where do its life-saving vaccines come from, and what happens if something dangerous and uncontrollable was ever to escape from it?

Plum Island sounds tranquil and friendly, but that aspect is rapidly dispelled in the first page.
What follows, interspersed with a number of flashbacks, is a roaring battle through the facilities on the island and outside.
There is a lot to go through, as the site is due to be decommissioned, and one specimen is to be eradicated.
Things don’t go according to plan, and a loved-up scientist makes the wrong decision, which snowballs the whole plan, causing a lot of green and red.
This is a fast-moving issue with a lot of action and some excellent sequences. I especially love the strung-up victims and the floral torture they were put through. The nice jump towards the end was well done, and the pace doesn’t let up.
There is some interesting commentary on the state of humans, and the finish does end with an interesting question mark - will we be resisting this in the future?
