Review: Human Remains #5
From Vault Comics this week is Human Remains #5, continuing this excellent series.
The life-forms continue to cast their awful shadow over humanity, particularly young lovers Bisa and Dax, who, after witnessing a terrible incident, decide that drastic action must be taken if they're to survive. Meanwhile, Colonel Sullivan gets closer to one particular gassed and caged monster. Is the monster trying to communicate?

With a beast captured, it seems it is now the time to find out what they are all about.
Regrettably, this doesn't seem to work out well.
There is something deeper going on there as Sullivan tries communicating with the creature. What makes this interesting, is that this is not a one-way conversation. The monster appears to be looking deeper into the soldier and affecting him. This possible effect by the monster is interesting and it adds a new layer to these creatures and what they do - and maybe why they are doing it.
On the flip side, we have a look at the scientific side here - with some interesting aspects of the possible origins of the monsters.
Away from the army and scientists, we meet two new characters who seem to be taking advantage of the situation. These psychics seem to be the usual ones you find, but they are brought in well after impressing the right people. Their comments are interesting and some of it looks deeper at the problems Sullivan is having.
There are some great builds to the ongoing story here, combined with a number of excellent character details as those still alive plot, scheme and try to live while these attacks are happening. they all have their own problems, and these are well told.
