Review: Kill All Immortals II #3
From Dark Horse Comics
The immortal and mortal violence continues in Kill All Immortals II #3 from Dark Horse Comics.
A Viking’s power comes from their kin, a bond that is forever. The fugitive and fractured Asvalds join forces with some unlikely new allies to pull off a dangerous, near impossible heist right in the midst of their enemies. But when things don’t go according to plan, Frey must ultimately decide just what she wants in her own life, and how far she is willing to go to get it.
Author: Zack Kaplan
Artists: Fico Ossio, and Oliver Barrett
An explosive new issue from an excellent team.
Building up to the mission was captivating; there is an interesting chase through the city, while there is still a fair amount of tension between the members of the Viking family. These remain a key aspect of this story, and I feel drawn in as the drama unfolds through this issue.
The planning to destroy the tree only builds more tension, as father and daughter obviously have differing agendas for how this mission should go about and what the end result should be. A turn is coming, and you can see how it will play out. The argument about using poison or fire is interesting, and you can see both points of view!
As the mission progresses, the turn comes, and there are twists and turns as we get closer to the crescendo of the issue. It is explosive and epic, with well-plotted elements that heighten the tension.
The artwork is epic, with some explosive panels and full of movement and action. Each one feels extremely cinematic, and the softer tones contrast well with the story being told and the action within.
This continues to be an epic story, cleverly introducing new aspects and new characters within the lore. The family matters is excellent and the tension continues to build as we work our way through the immortals walking the earth!
