After teasing the big threat to come in previous issues, this penultimate part of the mini-series finally delivers.
It does go the long way round, though, and there are some interesting twists and additions to the story - including that for the fate of the world!
First up, Dracula is being led into a trap - the Vampire Lords need his blood to call forth the Blood God, and have thought of not only the way to capture him, but also keep him in place to summon the apocalypse!
Slightly convoluted, but even adding in cameos by Van Helsing and Dracula’s daughter doesn’t make this a difficult story to get into - in fact, you could probably jump in on this issue and be sufficiently caught up!
There are some interesting moves by other characters - the attempted betrayal was interesting, and perhaps these characters could see the writing on the wall and want to be on the winning side, as well as a new non-vampire character. He seems like a side character, but he does make a significant impact, and I wonder if he will factor into the story's ending.
This has a fair amount of action and the art team does an excellent job - from vampiric powers to the gore and aftermath of the battles, there are some well stated panels which get everything accross well - including some interesting reactions and nods and winks!
Roll on the conclusion to this mini-series and where everything may change!
