Out now in print and digitally from Zenescope Entertainment is Lovecraft: The Call Of Cthulhu. Here are some thoughts on the continuing adventures of Lovecraft and Holmes.
H.P. Lovecraft is regarded as the greatest horror writer of all time. His works are filled with terrifying stories and horrible monsters...fictional fantasies so frightening the mind can barely fathom them...or so they seemed. Lovecraft's legacy, and the terrible dreams that birthed his stories, have been passed down to his great grandson...and he is quickly learning that the monsters are all too real.

Building off the previous adventures of the two relatives of Holmes and Lovecraft, we get a little more history and possibly a way forward for both of these characters.
The duo themselves in this issue are pretty passive. They are doing the discovering the same as us, as this issue concentrates on the adventures and discoveries of the original Lovecraft himself.
That’s not to say it has no action, but it plays out well, mixing both the route of discovery that Lovecraft is making his way along as well as being a lot more proactive in his defence of this world.
There are some interesting links to the future here, with weapons and monsters from beyond. This has the dual result of giving Lovecraft and Holmes a way forward and explaining what they already have and know.
I did find this a little slow to start, but rapidially got into the story and enjoyed the original Lovecraft’s commentary on what is happening. The thought of him furiously scribbling in a diary while monsters from beyond were entering the world was quite funny in a way.
Art-wise, there was a lot on board, from different locations (desert, cities, towns, forests, underground) to some different reactions to be had (fear mainly) as well as some well-played-out action pieces. The nature of the creatures allows some fun to be had with their designs, too.
I think this was a good issue, putting the characters on a good path for us to follow.
I think I need a road map to jump onto the Zenescope Lovecraft Train without missing anything! I need to catch up big time!
