After the escape and healing of issue #1, the revenge continues in Nemesis: Rogues Gallery #2 from Dark Horse Comics.
Every superhero has a sidekick. Why shouldn’t supervillains have one too? Nemesis busts the worst kid in the world out of juvenile detention and trains him to be just as twisted and malevolent as he is as he rebuilds his fortune and plots revenge against his enemies.
Author: Mark Millar
Artist: Valerio Giangiordano
After the violent and bloody escape, Nemesis is fully healed and looking to find his way back into his criminal ways. To do this, he needs money. A lot of it. He needs to get this money and pay off some nasty people. Luckily, he has a plan.
This plan involves getting a sidekick, and this is what this issue is all about. It’s a twisted training montage as one of the worst youth offenders gets out of jail brutally and joins up with Nemesis.
From here, we get a great look at the plan to get the money - there are shades of Willard Whyte (Like Howard Hughes) in Diamonds Are Forever here - and the usurping works out fun.
This was a fast-paced and entertaining issue - the outfit does look a little campy, and I really got a kick out of the oath in the issue with the look at a certain Dark Detective.
I feel that Nemesis needs a nemesis to round this story beginning off well.
