With some revelations, the second issue of Prodigy: Slave Of Mars is out now from Dark Horse Comics.
Stripped of his wealth, his status, and his multinational corporation, Edison Crane is homeless and on the run from the police for murder. Who does the world’s smartest man turn to when he needs help? His older, smart brother, of course.
Author: Mark Millar
Artist: Stefano Landini
An interesting point occurred to me: Mark Millar has done something similar before with the cleverer older brother in Ultimate Avengers. However, I don’t think that things are going to go that way in this story, as the older brother doesn’t seem to be the type to go rogue in that sense.
This was an interesting issue in that we learn more about the older, more brilliant brother of Edison. Their relationship seems to have fractured somewhere, but there is still a bond. I liked the discussion about the location and the Christmas card; the duo working together seems formidable.
But is it enough?
It seems that this new villain is one step ahead of the brothers, and they are responding more reactively than proactively to the problems in front of them.
I like the build and action in this issue, there is a few answers given, but they are still vague and don’t give us the whole story. The links to the Crane father and his eventual death are well teased and I look forward to learning more.
The artwork fits in well with the bombastic story, with some excellent scenes and I especially enjoyed the rocket going off. The action was well shown too.
