From Image Comics is the final part of this second arc of the super-genius. This is Prodigy: The Icarus Society #5.
Double-sized finale. Order high. We know we're biased but this book is f---ing excellent and it's about to be a HUGE Netflix movie.
Writer - Mark Millar, Artist - Matteo Buffagni
Kicking off before the storm and there is a moment of calm and reflection for our characters, and it allows us to have a deeper look into Edison Crane and how his mind works. There was a semi-sad part when he was asked if he had ever been in love, with a unique finish to that part of the tale - then the violence begins!
Things rapidly escalate here, and we get a look at how the Icarus Society seek to gain the treasures within this lost city. It all seems to work until Edison escapes due to something that wasn’t considered.
I like the way this plays out, and there is a fantastic ‘penny-drops’ moment where everything really kicks off. The art and style of the battle are well shown here, with some shown and some implied - I like the way that is mixed together.
This was a good issue and an interesting arc - it looks like it will be leading into something interesting as we will be getting more of the world’s smartest man!
