Review - Robyn Hood Annual: Children Of Darkness
Robyn Hood's adventures with light and dark continue.
From Zenescope Entertainment and out this week is a large-sized adventure in the Robyn Hood Annual: Children of Darkness.
Robyn’s true past and her ties to the Children of Darkness have always been a mystery to her. But now, as she tries to help Mystere and Talisman escape their own darkness, some of her past secrets will finally be revealed.

Robyn has been through the wringer for a while now. As the ‘Child of Darkness,’ she fought against that destiny, and here we discover something new about her life and what she was prophesied to do.
That has all been thrown up in the air, with evil doppelgangers and those who want her power, to stop her, or to kill her. Some of that gets sorted out in this issue.
Talisman is still in a bad way after the previous adventure, and there is Fuchs wandering around looking for some vengeance. Mystere has some role in all of this and her skills with the dead help to add some more background to the characters in this issue.
This issue does a lot to close some of the storylines in this arc, but it does leave some open for the future - where these characters can build on what we know. This includes mainly Robyn, Mystere and Fuchs.
Fuchs especially is an interesting character, and what has been added here, builds well on the character - stopping him from being a Kraven ripoff.
The fact that this is a larger issue, allows a lot of the characters to work here. With some interesting reveals (no spoilers) for one of our heroes. Nevertheless, there is still a good amount of action, with humans, monsters and gods as the story progresses. I like the way that the dark gods are shown and the way that part is closed off.
The artwork continues well, with some clever colouring used in the flashbacks and special effects.
In general, this was a good finish to the story, with new things ahead for all of the characters involved. This dark group are not finished yet, but their strength is diminished, and there will be a good wait until they cause some problems for Robyn. The question is what next for the archer?
