Review: Space Ghost #7
From Dynamite Comics
A new villain and a new story arc in Space Ghost #7 from Dynamite Comics.
INTRODUCING - ANTIMATTER MAN!
In this first chapter of a special two-part story, the Ghost Planet crew gather to witness the beginning of a bold new era in science - only to look on in horror when the experiment goes terribly wrong, transforming a close friend into a deadly new foe!
Written by David Pepose, Art by Jonathan Lau, Colours by Andrew Dalhouse, and Lettering by Taylor Esposito
This was an excellent read and the beginning of something new for Space Ghost and the kids.
We get a real family matter: the kids' grandfather is about to show off his new invention, but spoilers are on the way, and a new villain is about to put paid to the show and the invention. As an aside, I love the little robots, with a good mix of cute and dangerous, which makes them formidable in large numbers.
Space Ghost is onto them, though, and manages to stop the attack with only a small amount of damage.
Only a small amount?
Perhaps, but this is the catalyst for the beginning of this arc, with something even worse for both Space Ghost and the kids to deal with. Something more powerful than they could imagine.
The hints towards it are very good, with a clever moment in the hospital. From there, things escalate in a deadly way, and it appears that Space Ghost has an inkling of what has happened.
The kids don’t (yet), and that makes the cliffhanger of this story all the more dangerous.
This was a tense story that builds on the themes of Space Ghost and the universe he protects. There is some fantastic, boombastic artwork which deals with space, explosions, battles, robots and family matters - and some more exotic matters too. Perfect colouring and lettering go with it.
There are many points in this series you can jump on, and here is another - off you go, so you are ready for the next part of this thrilling story.
